Franklin Liquor: Exploring Tre Monti Wines - Oct 11

Exploring Tre Monti Wines - October 11 - 7 PM

Host: Natalie D'Alessandro Volpe

From Emilia-Romagna Italy Tre Monti traces its origins back to the early 1960s with the inspiration of Sergio Navacchia and of his wife Thea, who for years was the real driving force behind the winery until her death in 1989.

The heart of the winery lies in the center of the farm estate in Imola, where only estate-grown grapes are vinified. All of the vineyards are managed according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, which mandate inter-row cover-cropping and the lowest possible use of unnatural products.

All of this so that the final wine is the perfect expression of everything around its environment. Tre Monti became certified organic in 2014.

A not to miss Italian wine event!

About Natalie:

Natalie D'Alessandro Volpe is a Wine Broker of fine Italian wines for NDV Wine Agents, LLC.

Natalie currently represents a portfolio of exceptional wine varietals from regions throughout Italy, including Emilia Romagna, Piedmont, Tuscany, Lombardy, Veneto and Puglia. She works primarily with small family owned vineyards that practice sustainable and organic farming, and enjoys introducing her clients to grapes that are obscure and or indigenous to the region. In addition to her wine brokerage, Natalie is certified as an Italian Wine Specialist through the North American Sommelier Association, and conducts staff training, wine dinners and educational talks and seminars.

Pour Richard's Wine: The Whole Pour - Pennywise Aug 26

'Whiskey is carried into committee rooms in demijohns and
carried out in demagogues.'
-Mark Twain
Never Drink Ordinary!
July 29, 2018
No Richard

Pennywise Aug 26

Countless people have asked if my last name was 'Richard'. Variations: 'Who's Richard?' 'Where's Richard?' and 'Is your husband Richard?' Ladies and gentlemen, there is no Richard. We named the store for Ben Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanack, then doubled down on the clever with 'Pour' instead of 'Poor'.

Why would we do this? Because the town of Franklin, originally planned as Exeter, is named in honor of Benjamin Franklin, the great statesman/scientist/publisher/inventor/entrepreneur. Franklin famously contributed 116 books from his personal collection to the Franklin Library. He declined to donate the requested funds for a bell tower, but the townspeople-either content with the books, impressed with the old statesman's career, or both-settled on 'Franklin' instead.

Exploring Michele Chiarlo Wines
Host: Adam Verona

Since 1956 Michele Chiarlo is synonym with the wines of Piemonte. At a very young age Michele started to travel to showcase with unlimited passion what Piemonte could produce. With Michele's guidance now his sons Stefano and Alberto have taken over different roles and are carrying on their father's passion. The story of Michele Chiarlo as a wine producer starts with Barbera and specifically from Asti but quickly moves to cover all the top areas of Piemonte, Gavi, Barolo, Barbaresco and more.

The philosophy at the winery is to produce classic wines of terroir with the most up to date know how and still vivid passion.

Adams Bio

As Michele Chiarlo’s North American Brand Ambassador, Adam makes regular trips to Piedmont, Italy and works closely with Michele’s sons Alberto (sales and marketing) and Stefano (winemaking and technical aspects).

Adam has had a passion for wine and food for as long as he can remember. He began his wine studies in his early twenties that included an internship on a Tuscan vineyard, gaining hands on experience in every phase of wine production.

After years of representing Chiarlo wines in wholesale, he was introduced to the Michele Chiarlo family. In 2016 he took the position with the winery and now travels the United States and Canada, proudly promoting the Chiarlo family wines. Adam lives in Charleston, South Carolina with his wife and son.
