Pour Richards Celebrates 11 years - Thank you!

spot - (noun) 1. a small round or roundish mark. 2. a particular place or point

eleven - (noun) one more than ten
A little over eleven years ago, I re-arranged my life to prioritize two things: sleeping in my own bed, and selling products I actually liked. Ergo, no more working for distributors and importers. No more constant travel. No more selling 'priority brands'. I would buy a store and sell the wines, spirits, and beer I thought were exceptional. And so Pour Richard's came to be, marking a particular spot in time.

I cannot believe it has been eleven years, but the calendar doesn't lie. And eleven years of a great community is worth celebrating. So mark your calendars! The Eleventh Anniversary Celebration will be Saturday, November 18 from 2-5 PM. Many of my favorite wine and spirits people will be there: Mad River's Maura Conolly, Plus Mike Brehart, Matt Brooks, Matt Bellanger, John Avery, Roger Warner. And more. It will be a superb time to stock up for Thanksgiving. But also just a superb time. Please celebrate with us!

Until then, keep your eyes peeled for other 'spots', specifically spot sales. We'll be posting lots of limited offers via email and social media as a reward for our very fabulous customers.

Thank you for eleven years of patronage. Thank you for trusting us with your beverage needs. Thank you for being part of our community.

Thank you.

Wonderful World of Wine (WWW) - Episode 246 - Are You Ready For Some Football.....And Wine?

The Wonderful World of Wine (WWW) - Episode 246 - Exploring All Things Wine With You!

Are You Ready For Some Football.....And Wine?  In episode Kim and Mark talk football food and wine pairings.
Football food is often hearty and flavorful, making it a challenge to pair with wine. However, there are a few key principles to follow to create successful pairings we will discuss:
  • Match the intensity of the food with the intensity of the wine.
  • Consider the acidity of the wine.
  • Think about the complementary flavors of the food and wine. For example, the sweetness of Riesling can balance the heat of buffalo sauce, while the smoky notes of Tempranillo can complement the flavors of grilled meats.
Here are a few foods we will talk pairing wines with:
  • Buffalo wings
  • Nachos
  • Burgers
  • Chips and dips AND more!
With a little planning, you can elevate your football party/tailgating by pairing your favorite foods with the perfect wines.

Cheers and GO PATS!

Exploring Marcelo Bocardo Wines - Sep 8

Exploring Marcelo Bocardo Wines
September 8 = 7 - 8:30 PM

This will be a sit down wine tasting/education event held in the Franklin Liquors wine room.

We will be exploring some of the best of Mendoza. Marcelo has three vineyards that are located in Maipú (Certified Organic), Luján de Cuyo, and El Cepillo (Sustainably Grown) at altitudes ranging between 2,600 and 3,900 ft ASL. At these elevations, there is a significant fluctuation between daytime and nighttime temperatures resulting in grapes with a higher concentration of color, aromas, and flavors.

Furthermore, the water that irrigates the vineyards is sourced from the pure and clean melted snow from the Andes Mountains.

Our guest speaker Wendy Koder has worked in the industry 39 years. She is experienced in every aspect of the industry. Representing some of the finest wineries from South America and actually some of the first ‘fine wines’ from Argentina.

You may be familiar with Marcelos wines as he fulfilled his dream of having his own winery when in 2001 he founded Proemio which we explored with Wendy in the past.
