Community Garden - Build Day - Sunday, Oct 15
The pre-build day was successful last Saturday. All the lumber was cut to the lengths required for further assembly.
We need gardeners and volunteers to participate in Build Day, Sunday, October 15 from 9 to finish.
If you have teens you want to bring along, who would benefit from Community Service, please bring them along!

Please remember to bring battery power tools. A generator will be on-site for re-charging tools.
Remember to wear work clothes and work shoes, boots or similar footwear.

WHAT: The Harlem Wizards will bring their team to Franklin to compete against “Team FPS” for a 2-hour tournament. The Harlem Wizards brand of “Trick Hoops and Alley Oops” entertainment basketball has been packing gyms across the globe for over 50 years! Their show includes amazing slams, world-class tricks, precision teamwork and humor.
WHO: “Team FPS” will include teachers and staff from Franklin Public Schools. We anticipate a crowd of 1,200 students, parents and children!
WHY: FEF fundraisers have raised over $350,000 which has been distributed to
Franklin Public Schools in the form of special grants. All Franklin Public School staff members are eligible to submit creative, innovative ideas for programs or activities that would not traditionally be funded by tax dollars. To see a list of programs FEF has funded over the years, visit www.franklined.org.

"Community members are invited to donate gently-used clothing and household items Oct. 13-15 at the First Universalist Society of Franklin (FUSF), 262 Chestnut St., Franklin.
All goods collected through the FUNDrive are sold to Savers, the parent company to thrift stores like Value Village, Unique, and Savers. Savers pays the church by the pound for every qualifying donation received. In turn, these items help keep the stores freshly stocked.
Donations can be dropped off Friday, Oct. 13 from 4-7 p.m. in the Dana Room (use side entrance); Saturday, Oct. 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the FUSF parking lot, and Sunday, Oct. 15 from 9-10 a.m. in the FUSF parking lot

"The Franklin Distinguished Young Women Program is holding an information night on Wednesday, Oct. 18, starting at 7:30 p.m., at the Hockomock Area YMCA Bernon Family Branch, 45 Forge Hill Road, Franklin.
High school juniors from all area towns are eligible.
The Franklin Distinguished Young Women Program is part of a national scholarship program that inspires high school girls to develop their full, individual potential through a fun, transformative experience that culminates in a celebratory showcase of their accomplishments."

FHS golf posts win over Milford, both soccer teams tie Sharon

Boys Soccer = Sharon, 1 @ Franklin, 1 – Final
– Franklin took the lead in the first half but Sharon senior Tyler Goldstein pounced on a loose ball inside the area in the final minutes to net the equalizer.
Girls Soccer = Franklin, 1 @ Sharon, 1 – Final
– Molly Duncan scored the opening goal off an Emily Quaile assist to give the Panthers the lead midway through the second half, but Ally Filipkowski answered from the penalty spot with six minutes to play to earn the draw for the Eagles. Cat Robbins made three saves for Franklin in the draw. Sharon coach Brad Furnival said, “The team put in a great shift and I am pleased they had a positive result today after a few close games recently.”
Golf - Franklin, 165 @ Milford, 168 – Final
– Franklin senior Jason Collins shot a low-round of 39 to earn match medalist honors while classmate Bryan Woelfel shot a 40 to lead the Panthers to the win. Riley Lynch and Andrew Fauerbach each shot 41 for the Scarlet Hawks.

Friends and Family CPR Course - Oct 18
The Franklin Fire Department, Professional Firefighters of Franklin IAFF l2637, and the SAFE Coalition will be hosting a Friends and Family CPR course at Franklin Fire Headquarters (West Central St) on October 18th, 2017.
The Family and Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, adult CPR with breaths, and AED use. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible. Family and Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a CPR course completion card to meet a job requirement.
This course is ideal for community groups, new parents, grandparents, babysitters, and others interested in learning how to save a life.
Three sessions will be offered and there will be a maximum of 15 participants per session. Please sign up for one session only!
