Gabe Terry, Wyatt Herndon, Alex Connell, Aidan Klein, Matt Honekamp, and Alex Solares each scored in the win while Honekamp had a trio of assists and both Garrett Scagliarini and Will McAuley had one helper.

"Franklin senior Wyatt Herndon has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for Oct. 7 through Oct. 13. Herndon is the sixth athlete chosen as Player of the Week for the 2024-25 school year.
Herndon came up with goals in both of Franklin’s games this week, which was the biggest week of the season so far for the Panthers. Franklin hosted Sharon to start the week, and the Eagles entered the game at the top of the Kelley-Rex division. To wrap up the week, Franklin traveled to Mansfield, who was sitting at the top of the Davenport going into the game."

Boys Soccer = Franklin, 2 @ Mansfield, 1 – Final
– The Panthers potted the go-ahead goal with just under five minutes left to escape Mansfield with a hard-fought win over the Hornets. After a scoreless half, the game opened up a bit more in the second. A questionable call led to a throw-in in the attacking third for the Panthers and junior Josh Rappa didn’t hesitate to take the throw quickly. He launched a service into the area and senior Garrett Scagliarini went up and flicked it past the keeper in the 49th minute to present the Panthers with the first lead of the game. Mansfield’s direct approach in the second half opened the field a bit more, and head coach Steve Sheridan elected to move senior center back Cooper Austin into an attacking role. The switch paid off as Austin did well to hold up play before dishing it off to classmate Dylan Mullin, who was able to work his way between a pair of Panthers before connecting with Dom Nassif on a centering pass. Nassif’s one-timer snuck in at the near post as Mansfield pulled even in the 69th minute. Mansfield continued the pressure but Franklin’s back four was able to hold to quell the momentum. A free kick from Matt Honekamp was eventually played on by Scagliarini to the outside for a header from Rappa. Connor Mason was able to bring it down and dropped a ball in behind the defense and Wyatt Herndon was the first to it, getting a touch to beat the charging keeper.
Girls Soccer = Mansfield, 2 @ Franklin, 2 – Final
"It has been a tough week for Franklin. After dropping points to Bishop Feehan and Sharon within 24 hours of each other to start the week, the Panthers could have been forgiven for letting their heads drop when Aly Fernandes gave Mansfield a deserved two-goal cushion early in the second half of Friday afternoon’s game at Pisini Stadium.
Rather than letting the Hornets run away with a big win, Franklin fought back.
The Panthers scored twice in a 15-minute span, Morgan Lovell equalizing with just 11 minutes to play. Mansfield nearly came back and won the game a few minutes later, hitting the bar for the second time in the match, but it finished 2-2 and Franklin left the pitch as the happier of the two teams after grabbing a come-from-behind point."

Football = Franklin, 14 @ Central Catholic, 21 – Final
1Q: (CC) Caden Smith 23-yard rush, Drew O’Keefe XP good.
2Q: (CC) C. Smith 25-yard rush, D. O’Keefe XP good.
3Q: (F) Will Tirrell 5-yard rush, Owen Essam XP good.
4Q: (CC) C. Chase 9-yard rush, D. O’Keefe XP good; (F) Cole Sidwell 22-yard rush, O. Essam XP good.
The Panthers won a share of their fourth straight league title and reached the Div. 1 quarterfinal last season and, despite several key players graduating, the expectations around the program remain just as high coming into the new season.
Franklin’s attack will look a little different after graduating two-thirds of last season’s front three, but senior Kelly O’Connor is coming off an MVP-caliber season in which she scored 26 goals and she will be back to terrorize opposition defenses again. Junior Gwen Holland will support O’Connor up front and freshmen attackers Lily Strong and Claire Michel have both impressed during preseason scrimmages. The midfield should also chip in with goals, with senior Ava Vivella and juniors Morgan Lovell and Vera Hansen all returning and sophomore Sophia Horton being added to the mix.
Last season, Franklin allowed just eight goals in 21 games. Graduations and transfers mean there will be several new faces in the back, but the Panthers still expect to make it difficult for the opposition. Senior Eiley Cinelli will provide leadership in the middle with junior Cassidy Carmignani returning at outside back. Senior Meghan Griffith has moved from midfield to outside back and looks ready to step up in her new role. Freshman Grace Marinella is already looking like a leader in central defense. With Rachel Welch graduating and Jill Hamilton going to prep school, Franklin is turning to sophomore Cami Towers in goal with freshman Devyn Cairns looking to gain experience this year as well.
“This is a new, young group and we are getting acclimated to one another, learning each other’s tendencies and really starting to connect,” said Franklin coach Jodi Klein. “We are fortunate here in Franklin to have so much talent in our program this year at all three levels. They are working hard this preseason and we are improving every day. I see a bright future for the 2024 season as well as in years to come.”
