Electric Youth Returns to THE BLACK BOX - Sold Out - Mar 22

Electric Youth returns to THE BLACK BOX on Friday, March 22 at 7:30 pm offering family entertainment with music for all ages. Backed by an eight-piece band of world-class musicians, EY delivers high-energy music, including pop, classic rock, contemporary Broadway, and country hits. The show will feature fully choreographed performances of One Republic, No Doubt, Guns N’ Roses, Aretha Franklin, The Greatest Showman, Kelly Clarkson, and more. They will be joined by special guests Future Shock.

The 2019 group of talented young singers and dancers includes Laney Dragsbaek, Hayley Driscoll, Tatiana McAlpine, Kelly McCormick, Emma Nicholson, Hannah Rezendes, Madison Rezendes, and Lindsey Wyner of Franklin, Susauna Wickstrom of Wrentham, Griffin Wilkins and Caroline Wilkins of Walpole, and Cassidy Baratta and Kelsey Breslin of Hopkinton.

The American touring ensemble of talented singer-dancers, ages 14-18, is backed by the eight-piece Boston Show Band — world class musicians who’ve worked with music legends Tony Bennett, Aretha Franklin, Dizzy Gillespie, B.B. King, Diana Ross, The Temptations, Van Morrison and more. Electric Youth is trained at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts. The group has toured Europe 15 times, performing in such renowned venues as Vienna’s Konzerthaus, Musikverein and Schonbrunn Palace; Sanremo’s Ariston Theatre; England’s Arundel Festival; Disneyland Paris; and professional theatres in Bristol, London and Windsor. EY has also headlined Fourth of July shows for U.S. troops stationed in Italy at Camp Ederle, Camp Darby, and Aviano Air Force Base. The ensemble has performed on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas, on Fox-TV and WBZ Radio, and at Fenway Park, Gillette Stadium, the Smithsonian Museum Theater, the United Nations and the U.S. Embassy in Vienna. Electric Youth has released six albums, including 2014’s Power Chord, available on iTunes. This summer, they will tour Italy, France, the U.K., and Switzerland.

Collectively, the members of Electric Youth 2019 have performed with Broadway stars, sung the National Anthem for Boston sports teams, been selected to perform at “Broadway Sessions” in NYC, won national gymnastics titles, worked with choreographers from So You Think You Can Dance, performed on televised dance specials, and more. Alumni of Electric Youth have gone on to appear on Broadway, in national and international tours, television, regional theater, feature film, professional dance companies, cruise ships, and more.

FHS Panthers

Franklin Odd Fellows held a fundraiser Cornhole Tournament

On February 23, 2019, the Franklin Odd Fellows held a fundraiser Cornhole Tournament at the Downtown Sports facility at 240 Cottage St. in Franklin. Ten teams came together for a fun time in a double elimination, blind draw style tournament that was organized to raise funds for the Massachusetts Arthritis Foundation and other local charities. 

This was a first of a kind event for the Odd Fellows who wanted a team sport oriented fundraiser in one of the winter months to balance out a similar event that was held in June of 2018. Facility owners, Richard Frongillo and Kevin Sayward, were gracious hosts throughout the day and lodge members put on a free buffet lunch complete with lasagna, chili, meatballs and rolls, salads, pastas, chips, soft drinks and desserts.

The Grand Prize for the winning team received an all expenses, round trip experience to
Nantucket Island on Daffodil Weekend that included round trip tickets for two on the Grey Lady high speed boat out of Hyannis, and participation in the hugely popular Antique Car Parade. The winning team of “Two Kids and a Bean Bag” were Shane Jackson & Dan Labonte. The second place team of “J & R” was fielded by Ralph Delucia and Jerry Rinkel. Raffle prizes included Red Sox and Patriots shirts and a hand-made ball point pen that retails at $80.00. This high quality and very unique pen is made by the current Noble Grand of the Odd Fellows lodge, Rob Knospins of Millis, MA.

Downtown Sports is an athletic Facility available to teams, clubs, and the community at
large for the enjoyment and development of athletes. The sports complex includes a turf field and a multi- sport court with separate space for fitness and exercise classes, training and group activities.

fundraiser Cornhole Tournament

William F. Ray Lodge #71 is located at 330 West Central St and has been doing good
charitable behind the scenes work in Franklin since 1878. They are currently trying to secure the date of June 15th for their next tournament at the VFW Post on Pond Street in Franklin.

Anthony Delasanta sprinting faster for URI

Franklin's Anthony Delasanta, runs track for the University of Rhode Island. Anthony won the A10 Conference 400 meter sprint championship at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia on February 24 in a time of 48.49 seconds. 

Anthony also placed sixth in the 200 with a time of 22.25 and ran a leg of the fourth place 4X400 meter relay. This past winter season, Anthony also won the 400 meter sprint at the following meets: Beantown Challenge, Howling Husky Invitational, and URI Sorlein Invitational.

In addition, Anthony placed third in the 400 meter sprint in a time of 47.13 at the ICAAAA Championship, the second largest track meet in the United States, second in the New England Championship (NEICAAA) and fifth at the Dr. Sander Columbia Invitational at the Armory in New York City. He is currently ranked 79 in the United States in the 400 meters
