Volleyball = Franklin, 3 @ King Philip, 2 – Final
- King Philip rallied from a two-game deficit to force a fifth set but Franklin came away with a 3-2 decision (29-27, 25-21, 16-25, 21-25, 15-10). Junior Allyson Bonnet-Eymard led the way for the Panthers with 21 kills, seven aces, and 11 digs while Bridget Jackson had a strong showing with 13 kills and four blocks. Emma Chase added eight kills and Jill Benoit finished with 16 digs for Franklin. King Philip’s Catherine Waldeck had 11 kills and five blocks, and Nicole Coughlan chipped in with seven kills, two aces, and two blocks. Emma Brooks (six aces, eight digs) and Lily Carlow (three aces, seven digs) both had strong games defensively and serving for KP.

Field Hockey = Franklin, 3 @ King Philip, 0 – Final
Ryan Lanigan, the founder and Editor-in-Chief of HockomockSports.com provides the game recap:
"Monday afternoon’s field hockey contest between host King Philip and visiting Franklin will be a learning experience for both sides.

An experienced Panthers squad, who earned a 3-0 win in the game, will look to fine tune their offense, mainly their shot selection. And the Warriors, with a roster filled with mostly new faces to the varsity level, will be looking to get to the same level as the visitors.

Franklin controlled the play for the majority of the game, peppering the King Philip net from start to finish. However, thanks to a terrific performance from KP junior goalie Makenzie Manning (22 saves), the Panthers only celebrated three goals.

But three goals was all the Panthers needed, as they held the hosts to just one shot on goal with one penalty corner. Meanwhile, Franklin racked up 14 penalty corners and placed 27 shots on goal throughout the contest."

Since its inception, La Cantina Winery has become the premier location for learning the process of winemaking.  From grapes, to barrel, to bottle, they are committed to the educational and fun process of making wine. Smith’s Cheeses combines old fashioned family traditions and hard work  to produce their Farmstead Cheeses. They also have a commitment to reduce their carbon footprint: their grid-tied photovoltaic solar system offsets over 70% of their hot water and 30% of their electrical usage costs by using the energy of the sun.

“I anticipate the study to be a deliberate and thoughtful one, which will take time, likely to span multiple years”

From the Milford Daily News, articles of interest for Franklin:
"The superintendent of schools will recommend to the school board that the district hire an outside consultant to analyze whether Davis Thayer Elementary School should be closed.

Superintendent Sara Ahern is scheduled to make the recommendation at a School Committee meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Town Council Chambers in the Municipal Building, 355 East Central St. The district will also hold two meetings on Thursday to hear from parents and guardians on the topic: the first opportunity is at 10 a.m. in the Town Council Chambers and the second is at 6 p.m. at the school’s library.

“I know that the Davis Thayer community is tight-knit and supportive ... I am sad but find that I must exercise a responsibility of my job,” wrote Ahern in an email to parents.

In a memo to committee members, Ahern said that the school warranted a closer look, because of its age and design. The school, which was the original Franklin High School, was first built in 1924."
