Franklin TV: Still Hangin’ Out, Part 2

They’re Still Hanging – and Creating – in the House.

by Pete Fasciano, Executive Director  01/28/2024

Yes, our two radio studios are wonderfully occupado – filled with fun as our radio gang volunteers get-together with their guests and with each other to make great community radio happen – for a great community, Franklin.

Franklin TV: Still Hangin’ Out, Part 2
Franklin TV: Still Hanging Out, Part 2

I’m standing in the hall between our two studios. Behind door number one: Franklin’s Volunteer Information Director, Steve Sherlock convos with Franklin Library’s Mitzi Gousie. Behind door number two: Dr. Anne Bergen and Jim Derick conduct an interview for the Safe Coalition.

Don’t you wish you could find something to do that’s easy, fun, interesting - like just go hang out and have a great conversation with friends who get you? I mean, a real convo – one that you could record, and – BOOM! – a radio show and podcast happens.

That’s just part of what we do at wfpr, Franklin Public Radio. It’s local citizen radio. How local? It’s literally YOU in the first person local. It’s your voice – your program, on the air and online as your very own podcast. You get to share your thoughts and interests – speak your piece. Team up with a buddy or two, and it’s even more fun. When you make radio happen you also get to do a good thing – a public good. Bonus!

So, what do you have to say about that? Email us: info@wfpr.fm
Thanks for listening to 102.9 wfpr●fm.
And – as always – thanks for watching.

LiveARTS: ** Sunday, Jan 28, 2024 ** Nicholas Kitchen in Concert in Attleboro At 3 PM

Join us Sunday at Murray Church for:

Nicholas Kitchen

Live in Concert
Nicholas Kitchen
Nicholas Kitchen
Come and join us SUNDAY at 3:00 PM at Murray Unitarian Universalist Church in Attleboro for a recital by internationally renowned violinist, Nicholas Kitchen.
Program to include masterworks by Mozart, Beethoven, Amy Beach, and Clarence Cameron White.
This concert will have free admission.
In its 111th season, the Chaminade Club has joined forces with LiveARTS and the Schubert Club to celebrate the musical and cultural life of Southeastern Massachusetts and Northern Rhode Island.
Nicholas Kitchen is one of the most active and innovative performers in the music world today.  He is a solo violinist, chamber musician, teacher, video artist, technology innovator and arts administrator.
At 16, Nicholas began studying at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. At the end of his studies at Curtis in 1989, Nicholas joined his schoolmates and founded the Borromeo String Quartet that went on to study at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Very quickly the quartet won prizes at the Evian International Quartet Competition and the Young Concert Artists Auditions in New York. Ever since these first successes, the quartet has been in great demand, regularly performing 100 concerts a year.
His interest in reaching out with music resulted in his doing multiple tours under the auspices of the US Information Service visiting most of the countries in Latin America for performances and teaching residencies. Nicholas has taught at the New England Conservatory of Music since 1992, when at the conclusion of their studies the Borromeo Quartet was asked to become Quartet-in-Residence.

Every Single Cognitive Bias in One Infographic

"The human brain is capable of incredible things, but it’s also extremely flawed at times.

Science has shown that we tend to make all sorts of mental mistakes, called “cognitive biases”, that can affect both our thinking and actions. These biases can lead to us extrapolating information from the wrong sources, seeking to confirm existing beliefs, or failing to remember events the way they actually happened!"
