Sad news to share that Town Councilor Melanie Hamblen's father passed away last week. The obituary from Ginley's Funeral Home provides the details: 

"David M. Hamblen, of Franklin and Cotuit, formerly of Lexington, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 22 ,2022, at age 96. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley (Tolman) Hamblen, and brother to the late Nancy (Hamblen) Holt. Devoted father to: Diane E. Campbell of Mashpee; Sally D. Hamblen and husband Richard P. Kosian of Lynnfield; David A. Hamblen and his wife Susan Hamblen of Cotuit; and Melanie J. Hamblen and husband Neal White of Franklin. Cherished grandfather to seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Patrick and Michael Campbell, Nicole, Kroehl, Noelle DiGregorio, Laura Chadwell, Thomas Coyle, and their spouses, as well as eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family including George Ridley and Ruth Leiby, and many dear friends. U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II."

"Andrew Mario Bissanti, 64, of Franklin died peacefully January 7 at Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Christina M. (Lombardi) Bissanti.

I bought my book at Ginley's Funeral Home

Ted Reinstein, author and reporter for New England Chronicle, spoke to an enthusiastic group at the Franklin Public Library on Thursday evening. Some had already brought a copy of Ted's book "New England Notebook" to have him sign.

Others waited patiently for him to finish his delightful stories,

sign a few copies of the book,
pack his bag, get into his Jeep,
drive across the street to the Ginley Funeral Home parking lot
where he was able to sell copies of his book.

Yes, one of the unique things about Franklin, authors can NOT sell their books at the Library. Go figure!

Fortunately, Ted was a good sport and having as much fun as the book buyers. We all posed for a picture on the front steps to mark the occasion.

I did get my copy signed. Thank you Ted. You shared some great stories. I am sure the book will be worth it. Even if not, the evening was memorable. I can say I am part of the select group that bought Ted's book at Ginley's.
