"Today (03/04/24), the United States Golf Association (USGA) announced qualifying sites for the 44th U.S. Senior Open Championship, to be held at Newport (R.I.) Country Club, from June 27-30. Newport, one of the five founding clubs of the USGA, is hosting its first Senior Open and fifth USGA championship.Conducted over 18 holes, qualifying will be held at 33 sites across the United States between May 13 and June 5. Online entry applications are available now, and the registration process will continue through Wednesday, May 1, at 5 p.m. EDT (champ-admin.usga.org).“The USGA is excited to bring senior golf’s most prestigious championship to Rhode Island for the first time and to Newport Country Club, where the Association hosted its inaugural championship in 1895,” said USGA Chief Championships Officer John Bodenhamer. “Allied Golf Associations will be instrumental in conducting the qualifying process, which represents many of the USGA’s core values. Thousands of eligible senior golfers will have the opportunity to earn a place in the field and compete for the Francis D. Ouimet Memorial Trophy which is awarded to the champion.”
