"We love the squiggly lines! This is called “crack sealing ”.
It is the most cost-effective and efficient way to extend the life of a roadway. Basically liquid asphalt fills the that form on the travel surface due to oxidation, time and vehicle use.
If the cracks are not filled, water can get in there and break up the asphalt, particularly in the winter months when the water freezes causing potholes."
