Lifelong Music Academy: Fall 2017 Registration Now Open!

We offer a variety of after-school music classes for students looking to enhance their musical education. Below is a brief overview of each of our music programs. 

Please click a program name for more information, calendars, and how to register.

The Band School of Franklin: For students in grades 4 through 8. Tuesday afternoons at Horace Mann Middle School starting 9/19/17.

The Chorus School of Franklin: For students in grades 3, 4 and 5. Tuesday afternoons at Franklin High School starting 9/19/17.

The String School of Franklin: For students in grades 3 through 12. Monday afternoons at Horace Mann Middle School starting 9/18/17, and Thursday afternoons at Franklin High School starting 9/28/17.

Private Music Lessons: For all ages (children, teens, adults). Monday through Thursday at Franklin High School. Instruction is offered in the following instruments: Cello, Clarinet, Flute, French Horn, Guitar, Low Brass, Oboe, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Trumpet, Tuba, Viola, Violin, Voice. Lessons begin the week of 9/11/17 but enrollment is ongoing throughout the school year.

Adult Community Chorus: The Franklin Forte is our non-audition performing Adult Chorus group, which meets Tuesday evenings at Franklin High School starting 9/19/17.

Music Together® (birth through 5 yrs): Our new music and movement class for babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and their parents. Fridays starting 9/15/17.

"The police department is taking registrations to join its citizen’s police academy, where citizens have the opportunity learn first-hand what their local officers are up to. 
The academy starts on Sept. 13, and runs every Wednesday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. for ten weeks. 
“We’re resurrecting a program we used to run,” said coordinator Lt. James West. “It gives a complete overview over ten weeks about what a law enforcement agency is.” 
He said the program has been well received, and that residents walk away with a more secure and understanding relationship with law enforcement."

Lifelong Learning: Public Safety Partnership Classes Coming This Fall

Citizen Police Academy
     Have you ever wondered what it's like to ride along with an on-duty officer? How you would react in an emergency situation? How evidence is collected? What to do if you are stopped for speeding?
The Franklin Police Department hopes to answer some of those questions that you may have regarding the police department and law enforcement. And, in addition, each attendee will be given the opportunity to ride with a Franklin Police Officer during his or her tour of duty to experience the duties and responsibilities of the officers. 

Ten (10) Wednesdays - Sept. 13 - Nov. 15

Women's Self-Defense Workshop 
Great class for mothers and daughters to attend together.  Learn how to put power into your own hands. Participate in this very important three-night workshop to learn realistic self-defense strategies for women of all ages.  

Officers Tara Lagoa & Lee Ann Baker will discuss risk reduction and avoidance, situational awareness, how to trust your intuition, and basic hands-on self-defense techniques.

Home Alone Safety - Grades 1-5
     Children will learn the basics of being safe when home alone for short periods of time, whether by plan or because of an emergency

 Franklin Police Community Service Officer will explain how to safely answer the telephone and door, as well as Internet safety, accident prevention, and fire protection.  Simple First Aid techniques will also be taught.
