Walpole protest scheduled for Monday, Jan 5 at noon

"Please join the Walpole Peace and Justice Group tomorrow

Hi all,

Join us tomorrow, Monday, January 5, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at a vigil protesting President Trump’s illegal actions against Venezuela, violations of both U.S. and international law. Congress needs to stand up to President Trump who is only interested in Venezuelan oil. The rational that Venezuela poses a national security risk to the United States because of drug trafficking is only a pretext. President Trump is taking our country back to gunboat diplomacy of the past, when the United States used military action to invade countries for their resources. This reckless action risks a long period of turmoil. The Trump administration does not appear to have a plan. Our country’s history is full of wars that never solved anything, but made conditions far worse for the people in those countries. Afghanistan and Iraq are notable examples! War is never the answer!

Tomorrow’s vigil will be at the corner of Main and Elm Streets, along the Walpole Common near the gazebo.

People should dress for the weather. It will be chilly!

As a peace group, WPJG is committed to non-violence in all we do. At vigils, we expect people to stand peacefully and to act lawfully, to never respond to anyone who makes negative comments or appears angry or hostile, and to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation or to step away. We have lights for our signs"

Walpole Police and Franklin Police declared 2021 Gingerbread contest Co-Champions

Who won the contest? It finished with co-champions declared

"What a fantastic contest we had this year! 31 departments entered their gingerbread creations! We had some very close matches and it all came down to the last 2! I’d like to congratulate Walpole Police Department and Franklin Police Department on being the 2021 Gingerbread contest Co-Champions!
We had to get a little bit creative this year with the winners. It was so close, right down to the last hours when both Walpole and Franklin had some votes come in that were not actual individual votes, but seemed to be some sort of fake votes (no fault of either department at all). So, to keep the purpose and spirit of the competition alive, both departments are this year’s champs!!! We can’t allow a little something like this ruin the fun we’ve had and the hard work put in from all participating departments and all of the folks that followed and supported their departments throughout the competition!
We were able to raise $1,500 toward a cause to be chosen on Saturday, January 1st! Along with the additional awards decided by me! Have a happy and safe New Year everyone and thank you so much for participating and for your generosity!"

Quilting at the Park - August 18

Curious about quilting?

This is your opportunity to learn more about the art and joy of this creative endeavor! Come to the Francis William Bird Park in East Walpole, MA on Wednesday August 18. 6;00-7:30 PM for a free “show and tell” by members of the local Rhododendron Needlers Quilt Guild. Guild members will display a variety of homemade quilts and share information on this time-honored craft, including the creative process, pattern and color choices, quilting techniques and the personal stories and inspirations behind the quilts.

Quilting at the Park will be held at the Music Court (stone stage). Seating is informal on the lawn. Please bring a blanket or chair for your comfort. There will be a table of quilted items made by RNQG members available for purchase. Prices range from $15-$50 (cash, checks, charge cards and Venmo are all accepted).

The main parking lot is on Polley Lane

The Rhododendron Needlers Quilt Guild (RNQG) is a non-profit group organized to preserve the tradition, culture and history of quilting and to promote the knowledge and understanding of the art of quilting.
