Brutus Cantoreggi, Deacon Perrota, Carlos Rebelo

presentation copy to be added when available

shortage of contractors for snow removal, not just a Franklin issue, prevalent around the region and state

exploring options to address the insurance cost for the contractors as one of the real issues

unable to clear roads within the time frames previously committed

Town has raised the rate, actually paying more than the State rate

last snow storm, we had 8", and 12 contractors; we could get by with some shortcuts as it was cold coming to warm and the warmth helped us. If it was cold to cold, we would have problems meeting requirements

Padula: "It will be a tough sell for the taxpayers with taxes going up"

Cantoreggi: "We talk a lot of pride in what we do, it is a fact of life that we are as good as how we clear the snow"

Rebelo: "We don't have a lot of extra trucks hanging around"

"It will get there but how long it will be to get good will take time"

Citizens Comment
Dale Lippert, 8 Beth Road
did meet with Town Admin and lawyer on Monday
put back by treatment he received
town should buy the house and tear it down
their suggestion was to move the house up the hill, and move the septic system
other this would be to raise the house
third option was to tear up concrete and replace with rubble, effectively making the house a sump pump
sell the house, at a loss so someone could do one of the other items
The town will maintain the pump, so still on the hook

acknowledge member of the council who reached out to provide support and encouragement
acknowledge some of the former DPW workers, many of them have reached out to prove support

In the News: Hellen proposed to replace Nutting; Bob's Store in Franklin to close

From the Milford Daily News, articles of interest for Franklin:

"The Town Council will discuss on Wednesday the possibility of Deputy Town Administrator Jaime Hellen taking over for Town Administrator Jeff Nutting once Nutting retires next year.
A letter sent to town officials in September indicated that Nutting would be retiring no later than June 30. Nutting’s suggestion is to bring Hellen into the captain’s chair.
A search committee was organized earlier this year to decide how the town would go about choosing a new town administrator, but the group decided it would best for Hellen to take over the top job.
“After some discussion, they (the search committee) openly decided that he should be the next TA (town administrator),” Nutting said."

"The Bob’s Stores location at the Horace Mann Plaza will soon be closing, although it’s not clear exactly when.
A large red banner reading “Store Closing - This Location Only” appeared on the Bob’s Stores facade at 303 East Central St., shortly before Black Friday. Store employees referred requests for comment to Bob’s corporate offices in Meriden, Connecticut, but calls placed there by The Daily News were not returned.
Town officials from Franklin did not have information as to why the store is closing."
