We're Back in Action!

Another year of learning and growing has already begun! We are thrilled to be together once again, and have enjoyed seeing our faculty/staff connecting with our students and families.

We recognize that back to school season requires a lot of planning, we want to thank each member in our community for their efforts, which has led to a successful start to the school year. Especially our local Fire and Police departments, who have led a variety of safety drills, all of which were successfully coordinated.

Opportunity Alert

We're hiring a Human Resources Director to join the Superintendent's team. The Director will provide district wide leadership and drive strategic HR processes to support the day-to-day and long-range management of the Human Resources Office. The start date for this position is January 3, 2023, with opportunities to transition into the role before starting. This position is a year-round,12-month position offering a competitive salary and benefits compensation package. Access the full posting here.

Middle School Author Visit

Leslie Connor has been selected as the middle school visiting author for this year! She is a critically acclaimed author of several children's books. Our middle schoolers have been reading up a storm to prepare for her visit. We encourage families to explore her stories with their students to build excitement for our Author's Evening Event on 10/26 from 6pm - 7pm at Escape Into Fiction. In school visits will take place 10/ 25-27.

Learn more about Leslie Connor here!

Free & Reduced Meal Applications

As previously shared, The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has decided to extend school meals at no cost to all students throughout the 22-23 school year. We remind families that it is still important to complete the household Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals for the 2022-2023 school year if you believe you might qualify. This form allows us to establish eligibility for P-EBT benefits, waive transportation fees and other district fees for those who qualify, so we may serve families most effectively.

Complete the application today!

District Improvement Plan

District and building based administrators have worked diligently into the new school year to craft a unified strategy for improvement across the district. We have identified the following strategic objectives in our 22-23 District Improvement Plan (DIP).

  • Support the Social-Emotional Well-being of Students and Staff
  • Provide Engaging and Rigorous Curriculum
  • Deliver High-Quality Instruction to Meet the Academic and SEL Needs of Each Learner
  • Engage in Effective Two-Way Communication to Support Student Learning
  • Affirm Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for All Students

With theses objectives in mind, we have created comprehensive improvement plans for our pre-school, elementary, middle and high school levels.

You may access our 22-23 improvement plans here.

From the School Committee

Redistricting Analysis

The Franklin Public School District will begin a Redistricting Analysis during the 2022 - 2023 school year. A Redistricting Analysis is a data driven, community informed process that will allow the Franklin School Committee to evaluate the distribution of students and optimize facility utilization to best support educational programming within the district for the foreseeable future.

The results and recommendations will be presented at the conclusion to the School Committee in the Spring of 2023. Any recommendations that may be approved by the School Committee will not go into effect during the 2022-2023 school year. The School Committee will continue to engage the public prior to reaching a final decision on any boundary adjustments.

Timeline of Recent Events

As an effort to ensure stakeholder engagement, we are seeking individuals interested in being a part of the Redistricting Advisory Committee, to submit their interest for consideration via our Redistricting Analysis Interest Form.

Please join us for our next School Committee meeting on Tuesday, October 25th, 2022 at 7pm.

Welcome back FPS Families, Faculty Staff and Franklin Community!
