“In reality, they amount to another corporate scam"

"The US Department of Energy has selected seven projects for a $7bn program to launch the development and production of hydrogen fuel, the White House announced on Friday.

The Biden administration says the program will constitute a major boost to the country’s nascent clean hydrogen industry, helping it achieve its climate goals. But many climate advocates are skeptical that it will actually help reduce emissions.

Unlike coal, oil and gas, when burned, hydrogen does not produce greenhouse gas emissions. It can be produced using carbon-free energy, but roughly 96% of it is currently derived from planet-heating fossil fuels – something the Biden administration hopes to change.

“With this historic investment, the Biden-Harris administration is laying the foundation for a new, American-led industry that will propel the global clean energy transition,” said Jennifer Granholm, the secretary of energy, in a statement."

This popular and well-established event features hand-crafted items from artists throughout New England. You’ll find a great selection of items for yourself, your home or for gift-giving. The club accepts donations for the Franklin Food Pantry when you enter. The entree fee of $3 is for people 12 years of age and older. The funds raised and pantry donations allow us to give back generously to the local community.

Look for us on social media for more information about the Craft Fair and our Club. We are a multi-generational, member-driven organization and are always excited to welcome new faces and new ideas.

Residents of Franklin, or any surrounding town that doesn't have a Newcomers Club, are welcome to join us. We meet bi-monthly at Escape into Fiction bookstore, 12 Main Street in downtown Franklin.

Our December 13 meeting will include our Holiday Yankee Swap, one of our fun, annual events. In addition to our meetings, we hold varied events to stay connected throughout the year.

Franklin TV: DPW, Better & Better

A Town is Made of Treasured Places.
by Pete Fasciano, Executive Director 10/15/2023

There are quietly treasured places and spaces tucked in here and there that dot the landscape of any town. They are often physical markers of a storied past. Some are ‘institutional’. Some are ‘monumental’ (literally). Some are simply spaces for recreation, reflection, renewal. They also contribute to the local zeitgeist – the unspoken identifying and unifying spirit of the community. They are who we are. In that sense they are treasured – hushed and holy places.

Franklin TV: DPW, Better & Better
Franklin TV: DPW, Better & Better
We breeze by them without a thought on most days. But, without them we are less.

As public works they are a public good – good works of art, usually unsigned. That said, I give a big nod of appreciation to the DPW, our Dept. of Public (Good) Works. Robert Cantoreggi and his talented team are always there, deftly working away in that unsung background. All that good work? You might say it’s – ‘monumental’.
And – as always –
Thank you for listening to wfpr●fm.
And, thank you for watching.
