Franklin TV: DPW, Better & Better

A Town is Made of Treasured Places.

There are quietly treasured places and spaces tucked in here and there that dot the landscape of any town. They are often physical markers of a storied past. Some are ‘institutional’. Some are ‘monumental’ (literally). Some are simply spaces for recreation, reflection, renewal. They also contribute to the local zeitgeist – the unspoken identifying and unifying spirit of the community. They are who we are. In that sense they are treasured – hushed and holy places.

We breeze by them without a thought on most days. But, without them we are less.

As public works they are a public good – good works of art, usually unsigned. That said, I give a big nod of appreciation to the DPW, our Dept. of Public (Good) Works. Robert Cantoreggi and his talented team are always there, deftly working away in that unsung background. All that good work? You might say it’s – ‘monumental’.
