"New data drop: We've updated the Immigration Enforcement Dashboard with 395,406 ICE detainers from Sept 2023 through Oct 2025, thanks to FOIA work by the Deportation Data Project.

The key finding? Growth in detainers is driven entirely by immigrants without criminal convictions. Detainers for people with convictions stayed flat while those for people with pending or no charges surged.

This matters because detainers let ICE leverage routine local police activity (traffic stops, 911 calls) to funnel people into the deportation pipeline. The data shows enforcement expanding far beyond any public safety rationale.
