Goodbye exit 16, exit 17; hello exit 41, exit 43

MA highway exit numbers change in October to meet Federal standard. Announced last year and guess what, it was delayed by the pandemic, but the change is coming in October.

"Amid constant changes in 2020 not even highway exit numbers are safe.

Massachusetts will begin to transition to mileage-based exit numbers in October, according to WCVB.

The change was announced last year as the state will drop its current sequential numbering in order to comply with a 2009 federal mandate.
Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Delaware are the only states that have yet to implement the change, and are at risk of losing federal funding if they do not comply."

Buy a Brick, join the Hall of Sponsors for the Fresh Start Market

Fresh Start Market is opening our doors to the community to be a part of our store's history. We have created a special place inside our market for a micro fundraiser where interested sponsors can "Buy a Brick" that will adorn our wall for our "Hall of Sponsors".

As start up businesses go, we are not typically able to obtain business loans and we do no qualify for any Covid-19 programs. We have supported our store completely out of pocket and would love to include ways that our customers and community can help! We've already seen a huge outpouring of support in getting bags for our floor, let's see what we can all do with our walls!

The way it works :
We have a great wall in our hallway between the 2 main parts of the store. We're putting up brick panels and we're selling each "brick" to interested sponsors (you!). Each brick can say anything you'd like (family friendly, of course) up to 35 characters. We encourage family names.

Each brick is $25 and can be made payable to Fresh Start Market safely and securely through Venmo using our email address Freshstartmkt@gmail.com. Please include what you'd like your brick to say in the payment notes. Payments without notes will be contacted to inquire about what to scribe.

You can also drop off a check at our store made payable to Fresh Start Market, Inc. PayPal is also an option, please contact us for more details. And cash is always welcome.

We are adding 2 more options! $50 for a silver purchase and $100 for gold! Lettering will be done in correspondence with donation. Great for local businesses to get involved!

We're grateful to everyone who is able to help! If you have any questions regarding this fundraiser, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to being open and welcoming our community!

Thank you for your support!

Disclosure: After following the development of Fresh Start Market over the past couple of years, they found the Market Study that the Town of Franklin did with MAPC and we shared here, as a critical piece of their planning. Very happy to put a brick on the wall to help them!

In the News: "Two officials charged in Holyoke Soldiers’ Home COVID outbreak"

From the Milford Daily News, an article of interest for Franklin:

"Two of the top officials at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home, where 76 veterans died of COVID-19 during an outbreak in early spring, have been criminally charged with neglect and causing serious bodily injury in a case that may be the first of its kind in the country.

“They risked their lives, from the beaches of Normandy to, some, the jungles of Vietnam,” said Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, in a press conference Friday morning. “To know that they died under the most horrific circumstances is truly shocking.”

Superintendent Bennett Walsh and former Medical Director David Clinton face 10 felony counts each, five counts related to criminal neglect and five counts related to causing serious bodily harm. They face up to three years in prison for each criminal neglect count and 10 years in prison for each count tied to serious bodily injury."
