Franklin Girls Softball Association (FGSA) makes a pitch for sponsors

Dear Potential FGSA Sponsor,

We would like to invite you to be part of our upcoming 2025 softball season. Our Opening Day is scheduled for May 10th, 2025. This special day is when we have the pleasure of introducing the Franklin community to all our players and wonderful sponsors during a festival we hold at our home fields.

We Want you to be part Of this community and partner with us through sponsorship!

FGSA is made up of over 200 players and families. We Offer 3 softball programs: Spring Recreational, Travel, and Fall Ball. A program is offered for all skill levels and from ages 4-18. A mentoring program has been established within our league and it has become commonplace for our travel team players to volunteer their
time and efforts at skills clinics for our younger players. A sense of community is truly thriving within FGSX.

All sponsorship contributions, made by organizations just like yours, go towards maintaining the quality of our program and help ensure we continue to offer girls from pre-K through high school a safe and fun place to learn and grow with fastpitch softball.

We have had to reinvent our traditional sponsorship program so that the benefits are far reaching yet cost effective. Our focus for advertising your business lies in social media posts, email blasts, and banner advertising on our webpage, all of which reach not only our Franklin participants, but also the teams from
surrounding towns that participate in our league play and in summer  tournaments.

This year we are asking for $200 in exchange for the following:
  • Your company logo on our webpage, https://www.fgsafastpitch.org/, from May 2025 to May 2026
  • Social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) posts promoting your business
  • Email blasts to our families thanking you for your sponsorship
  • Advertising in our Tournament Packet that will be distributed to all teams attending our 3 tournaments this summer. Our tournaments will bring 30+ teams, equaling over 400 families, to Franklin
  • Your company name will be listed on the back of the opening day shirt worn by all Of our players, and you will be provided with a shirt to thank you for your sponsorship
  • Your company logo will be printed on a large banner that is displayed at our Pisani 2 field all season and Summer, for everyone to see
Please see below for information needed to sponsor. On behalfof all FGSA players and families and the FGSA Board Of Directors, please accept our warmest thanks for your consideration.

You can help with this Dean College student project for a Coaching Symposium

Dear Franklin

My name is Elliott Steinberg, and I am currently a student at Dean College.

I am reaching out to you regarding a special event that my class is organizing—the second annual Dean College Coaching Symposium, scheduled for December 6th. We are required to create an event entirely from scratch to provide students with valuable hands-on experience in event planning, management, and marketing.

The symposium serves as a forum where coaches from various sports can come together to discuss challenges within the industry and explore strategies for improvement. Our goal is to provide a learning environment where coaches can share knowledge, network, and gain insights that will improve their coaching skills and their ability to navigate complex issues in sports today.

We are actively seeking sponsorship from local businesses to help support us. Your sponsorship would contribute to the symposium's success and help foster the growth of young professionals in the field of sports. In exchange for your support, we are offering several opportunities for your business to gain visibility among attendees and in the community.

I would love to discuss how your organization can get involved. You can either ping me on here or email me at esteinebrg674@gmail.com.

Sincerely,
Elliott Steinberg
Dean College Student

CommonWealth Magazine: transparency needed in evaluating correctional expenses and with Globe sponsored content

"MASSACHUSETTS SPENDS MORE than $1 billion a year to incarcerate roughly 13,000 people in its state prisons and county houses of correction, but a lot of the details of that spending are shrouded in mystery and uncertainty.

As part of the recent wave of attention to criminal justice reform, the Legislature recently formed a special commission to try to make sense of correctional spending in the state. The call for a commission was driven by a steep drop in the state’s inmate population – the total is now roughly half the peak of recent decades – that has occurred with no corresponding reduction in corrections spending. Meanwhile, per inmate spending varies widely among the state’s 14 sheriffs who oversee houses of correction, and there is widespread concern among those outside the system that inmates are not receiving adequate rehabilitative services while behind bars.

A big takeaway from the commission’s recently issued report, said its two co-chairs, Sen. Will Brownsberger and Rep. Michael Day, on this week’s Codcast, is the need for much clearer information on spending and inmate programming in order to assess what changes are needed.  "

"THE BOSTON GLOBE is facing a growing chorus of criticism from public health advocates and media critics for working with Philip Morris to create and publish stories featuring interviews with prominent scientists, many of whom say they were never told the true purpose of the interviews – for inclusion in Philip Morris ads.

A coalition of six leading public health organizations sent a letter last month to Globe owner and publisher John Henry in an effort to persuade him to get rid of the tobacco ads. He did not respond.

To be sure, the Philip Morris ads in the Globe today are nothing like the tobacco ads of the past. Gone are the Marlboro man and his ilk. Instead, the tobacco ads in the Globe nowadays take the form of what’s known as “sponsored content” articles, a type of advertising that looks similar to Globe news stories with headlines, bylines, and even the same font the paper uses. The ads run under the heading “From our Partners” on the Globe’s website."
