13th Annual Franklin Turkey Trot Raises $49,630 for the Franklin Food Pantry

The Franklin Food Pantry, which provides supplemental food assistance and programs in Franklin, Massachusetts, announces that a record-breaking $49,630 was raised by more than 950 runners and 65 sponsors at this year’s annual Turkey Trot held on Thanksgiving Morning, Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024. The funds raised support programs and services that assist more than 1,800 individuals and families and surpasses last year’s fundraising effort of $45,000. Organized in conjunction with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Franklin, this is the thirteenth year for the family-friendly fun run, which welcomed participants of all levels and abilities.

“Whether you ran, walked, donated, or cheered us on, your support means the world to those we serve,” said Tina Powderly, Executive Director of the Franklin Food Pantry. “Thanks to your generosity and the help of our amazing sponsors, we raised nearly $50,000 to provide nutritious food and essential goods to our neighbors in need. We’re so grateful to be part of such a caring and giving community—thank you for making a difference!”

About the Franklin Food Pantry, Inc.
The Franklin Food Pantry, Inc. offers supplemental food assistance, household necessities, and resource referral programs to more than 1,800 individuals per year. The Pantry relies on donations and grants to purchase items and pay for daily operations, and partnerships with The Greater Boston Food Bank, Spoonfuls, and local grocery stores to achieve greater buying power and lower costs.

Dean Dash 5K Sunday Nov 3 - Maple St closed from Red Brick to Franklin Springs Rd

"Franklin runners and walkers, please consider participating in the Dean Dash on Sunday. It is going to be a perfect day for a 5K race.  
As part of a class project, the students have developed the race and coordinated all logistics and promotion.  
You can sign up online or in person at Longley Athletic Complex. The race is Sunday, November 3 at 9 AM."


Also noteworthy as a result of the race schedule, the Franklin Police digital signs are up advising of road closure on Maple from the Red Brick School (Lincoln St) through to Franklin Springs Road on Sunday morning from 9 to 10 AM to allow for the race.

Join us on Friday, July 19, 2024 at La Cantina Winery to support The Pantry’s team of runners led by Amber Baur as they commit to running the Falmouth Road Race! 

Tickets are $30 each and include entry, door prize ticket, and a beverage. Proceeds will benefit the Franklin Food Pantry

FBRTC 5k - Seeking Volunteers

 
Hello!

The FBRTC is looking for volunteers to help the morning of May 18, 2024 for our annual 5k fundraiser.  Our partners at Tri-Valley Front Runners will be leading the event, but need assistance in the following areas:

  • Parking
  • Greeting/Direction
  • Raffle Tent
  • Registration / Bib Pick Up / Check In
  • Road Crew
  • Water Stop / Turn Around Spot
  • Timing / Start / Finish / Results / Awards

We need volunteers at different times of the morning, from setting up the event starting around 8:00 AM, to supporting the race at 9:00 AM, to breaking down the event starting at 10:00 AM.

Lace Up and Join the Franklin Bellingham Rail Trail 5K Run and Walk on May 13

Get ready for a fun-filled morning of fitness, community, and celebration at the Franklin Bellingham Rail Trail 5K! Scheduled for 9:00 AM on May 13th, this exciting event promises to be a memorable experience for all participants. All proceeds will benefit the SNETT trail maintenance and expansion. Parking will be available at 210 Waters Corporation, making it convenient and accessible for everyone to join in the festivities.

The Franklin Bellingham Rail Trail 5K is a unique race that starts and finishes at the Southern New England Trunkline Trail (SNETT) Grove St Trailhead, and  takes participants on a picturesque journey along the scenic rail trail, showcasing the natural beauty of the area. Whether you're an experienced runner or a walker, this event welcomes all fitness levels and ages, making it a perfect opportunity for families, friends, and community members to come together in a healthy and enjoyable way.

But the fun doesn't stop at the finish line! After the race, all participants are invited to a post-race party at 67 Degrees Brewing, located conveniently near the finish line. Here, you can celebrate your accomplishment with fellow runners, indulge in delicious food and beverages, and join in an exciting raffle for a chance to win some amazing prizes.

As a special memento, with a limited quantity, each participant will also receive a race beer glass and a coaster as a token of appreciation for their participation in the Franklin Bellingham Rail Trail 5K.
