Franklin 5K Turkey Trot Returns to In-Person Race - Nov 25, 2021
The $20 early bird registration fee is effective through October 18 and then increases to $25. The registration fee goes directly to the Franklin Food Pantry, keeping donations local to help feed those in need. Participants can register online here. Due to COVID restrictions, the Franklin Food Pantry will not be able to accept food donations instead of the fee. Thank you for understanding this change in policy. Runners can also purchase a t-shirt directly from the registration page to commemorate their experience.
“In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, The Pantry has shifted its distribution model to meet our neighbors’ changing needs for food and services. This month, we are moving to a hybrid distribution model, offering both in-person and drive-up distribution. We have added home delivery and mobile pantries to reach our neighbors who cannot come to us and increased office hours to assist neighbors who may need more than food,” said Tina Powderly, Executive Director for the Franklin Food Pantry. “We are so grateful for the continued tradition of the Franklin Turkey Trot to help fund our many services. These programs help us provide hunger relief to our community, especially during these
challenging times.”
There are also several opportunities for local businesses to sponsor the race. Funds received from sponsorships are used to cover costs associated with the event, including the race registration company, timing technology, insurance, and security details.

The Franklin Food Pantry offers supplemental food assistance and household necessities to more than 1,000 individuals per year. The Franklin Food Pantry is not funded by the Town of Franklin. As a private, nonprofit organization, we depend on donations from individuals, corporations, foundations and other strategic partners. We are grateful for our many partnerships, including that with the Greater Boston Food Bank, that allow us to achieve greater buying power and lower our costs. Donations and grants fund our food purchases, keep our lights on, and put gas in our food truck. Other programs include home delivery, Weekend Backpack Program for Franklin school children in need, mobile pantry, emergency food bags and holiday meal packages. The Pantry is located at 43 W. Each year, the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Mary’s Church walks to bring awareness to the Franklin Community of the struggles some residents experience that impact their daily lives. For thirty years, SVdP has been helping people in need in regardless of race, religious beliefs or ethnic background. The SVdP members work closely with many charitable and government organizations in Franklin.
The SVdP members are all volunteers. Members assist people in a number of ways to help them retain their dignity and to help them to become self-sustaining. Some ways in which the SVdP society assists those in need include:
• Provide clothing and furniture through our SVDP Thrift Stores
• Supply non-perishable food and paper products from our pantry to supplement other food resources
• Assist financially during an unexpected crisis helping to pay rent, medical, car repairs etc.
Last year we helped Franklin Families 345 times for $59,319.00
This year walk participants will follow a route around the town common. Participants may walk between one and three miles. One time around the common is a third of a mile. Registration opens at 8 AM. The walk begins at 9 AM.
If you would like to support our mission of helping residents of Franklin in need, you may make a financial donation in one of two ways.

Spier Family Kindness For Kids 5K & Kids Run + Family Day - Sep 19
Join us for a great race and family day at the site of so many championships!
Sponsored by the Spier Family and in support of Hockomock Area YMCA Food Access Programs, the annual 5K that hundreds have come to love (formerly called The Foxboro 5K) returns to Patriot Place and will be held Sunday, Sept. 19. Join us!
Food insecurity is a growing concern in the region and, to address this, the Hockomock Y provides free food and meals with no questions asked. We are proud to announce that the annual Hockomock Area YMCA 5K has matured beyond our former route neighboring the Foxboro Y and invite you to run/walk at Patriot Place surrounding Gillette Stadium!
This course and the entire morning of activities will make memories for years to come for all ages and abilities. All proceeds will go to feeding our community.

Hello all!
The month of May is here which means our virtual 5k is just around the corner! Attached in this email is all the information you need to register for the event. Follow the link to sign up and get your free neck gaiter.
Also please forward this to all your friends and family to sign up as well! You can walk or run from anywhere! We will mail the neck gaiter to anyone outside the area so forward it to Aunt Sally in Florida or Uncle George in California! We have a limited number of gaiters so don't be left out!

Virtual Franklin Turkey Trot - Nov 26 or anytime
Get ready to burn off those Thanksgiving calories before dinner AND give to the Franklin Food Pantry.
This year the Franklin Food Pantry is holding its 9th Annual Franklin Turkey Trot 5K as a virtual race. The turkey trot will still officially run on Thanksgiving morning, November 26th, but you can run or walk your own personal 5K when it is most convenient for you. Once you have finished the race, you can post a picture on social media sharing that you completed your run and use the hashtag #turkeytrot2020.
To register, go to http://www.franklinturkeytrot.org! Free shirts will be given to the first 100 to register.
All proceeds from this event go directly to the Franklin Food Pantry to provide quality healthy food to hungry families in our local community. In 2019, the over 1000 entrants, donors and sponsors raised almost $21,000!

HMEA’s incredABLE 5K - Sunday, May 19
HMEA’s incredABLE 5K, celebrating the “able” in everyone, is set for this Sunday, May 19 in Franklin. The event also includes a Kids’ Fun Run and fun family activities.

2 The event, held rain or shine, benefits the Horace Mann Educational Associates of Franklin, which has a mission to teach, support and empower people with disabilities and their families to live meaningful lives of their choice.
3 The event is held at Dell EMC, 50 Constitution Boulevard, Franklin. Free parking is available.
4 Registration is at 8:30 AM, with the 5K race and walk starting at 10 AM, followed by the Kids’ Fun Run at 11:30 AM.
