Spier Family Kindness For Kids 5K & Kids Run + Family Day - Sep 19

Join us for a great race and family day at the site of so many championships!

Sponsored by the Spier Family and in support of Hockomock Area YMCA Food Access Programs, the annual 5K that hundreds have come to love (formerly called The Foxboro 5K) returns to Patriot Place and will be held Sunday, Sept. 19. Join us!

Food insecurity is a growing concern in the region and, to address this, the Hockomock Y provides free food and meals with no questions asked. We are proud to announce that the annual Hockomock Area YMCA 5K has matured beyond our former route neighboring the Foxboro Y and invite you to run/walk at Patriot Place surrounding Gillette Stadium!

This course and the entire morning of activities will make memories for years to come for all ages and abilities. All proceeds will go to feeding our community.

Guster - "Do you love me?"

No more iPad musical toys. This time, it is real instruments and live action, creative, fun with paints all captured and rendered with stop motion video.

Enjoy!

Snow angels

Mary Olsson contributes this snow angel!

After clearing the driveway of the major snow, I went back for the minor clean up and took the opportunity to do my snow angel. If you can't do a snow angel, it isn't really snow.

Did you have fun in the snow? Will you have more fun on Thursday?

Feel free to share your photos here or on our Facebook page.

Ze Frank - fun for Friday!

I haven't posted recently on our Web 2.0 series so I thought I would do so today.

I miss Ze Frank's "The Show" - It was a glorious exploration, everyday something new. Yes, some worked better than others but going through each day, it was magic.

I recall back at the first PodCamp Boston, Steve Garfield coordinated a session that produced this video on "Riding the Fire Eagle Danger Day"!

Ze Frank summarizes some of his work in this TED talk. The two best parts are the Ray story and the last piece on "Hey, you're okay"

Of course, you should have fun everyday and not just Friday!

What are you going to do to have fun today?

Note: email subscribers will need to click through to Franklin Matters to view this video

Laughter will keep you warm

One way to keep warm is with laughter. Laughter comes naturally with fun. Bernie DeKoven, the Funsmith, has a collection of quotes on fun that is purely delightful:
"Ask not what fun does for you. Ask rather what you do for fun." - the Oaqui

"The more fun you have, the greater your value to yourself and to your society. The more fun you share with others, the more fun you have." - the Oaqui

"For every Way there's a way of following that Way that's fun" - the Oaqui

"The Path that is best for you is the Path that keeps the best of you in play" - the Oaqui
For more quotes from the Oaqui, click through here.

If you have a quote that could be redone to make it more fun, please send it on to Bernie.

Fun Friday - How much is one trillion?

Let's have a little fun as the week closes this Friday the 13th.

How much is one trillion?

What does one trillion look like?

The slideshow put together using Google Docs starts with a familiar object, the size of a dollar bill and puts together what one trillion looks like.

Quite impressive!

Enjoy!

Thanks to Ms Meyer, an English teacher from Conroe, TX for putting this together to share.
