Franklin TV: I Got Shot! - And I’m celebrating

"It’s true. I got shot! Right in the apothecary! A local CVS Health Hub to be specific. And, it didn’t hurt one bit. I’m happily headed back for my second dose this week.

I got my first shot of the Moderna vaccine. Reserving both of my appointments on the CVS website was E-Z. (Thank you.)

There were two stations for vaccinating about two-dozen people each hour, A year ago I opined that folks should all ‘hunker  up’  (instead of down).  Now, ‘up’ is near, at arm’s length. Put your arms into it. Get shot. Get ahead of the virus. Get to better days ahead.

During our 15–minute wait following our shots, the staff was attentively checking in. I sense they were enjoying the positive vibes of relief from everyone.

Bonus!  They even had yummy chocolates for us in a socially distanced waiting area.  Works for me. Vaccine & Chocolates! Yes, you really should. I’ll be headed back for seconds – on the vaccine. Perhaps even more on the chocolates."

"THE NEW NORMAL NEW ENGLAND ROAD TRIP" with Ted Reinstein, Monday, March 22, 7:00 PM

During a challenging time when most people are limiting their travel, this talk takes folks along on a rollicking ride around New England—all in just one hour, and all from the comfort of their own home.

Author of three books about New England and longtime "Chronicle" reporter Ted Reinstein is your tour guide as you go from Maine to Rhode Island, Mt. Washington to Mt. Mansfield, and Berkshire foliage to Fenway Park.

But Ted's 20-plus years of reporting and telling stories from all over New England means this is not your average bus tour. Prepare to meet colorful characters who've done the darndest things, learn odd facts about familiar places, and of course—this being a Ted talk—expect to visit at least a few fabulous classic diners. Franklin Public Library Book Club, Tuesday, March 23, 7:00 PM

The book for discussion is The Night Circus, by Erin Morgenstern.

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway--a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love--a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.

True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus per­formers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

FM #495 = This is the Franklin Matters radio show, number 495 in the series. 

This session shares part 1 of the Franklin, MA Town Council meeting held on Wednesday, Mar 17, 2021. 

The meeting was conducted in a hybrid format: most members of the Town Council, selected guests, and Town Administration personnel were in the Council Chambers, at least one member of the Council was remote along with the public via the Zoom conference bridge, all to adhere to the ‘social distancing’ requirements of this pandemic period.

I’ve split the almost two hour minute meeting into two logical segments:

• *** First *** - covers the opening through the retirement recognitions and new hire swearing in ceremonies (56 minutes)
• Second - covers the committee reports, the two items for legislation and the remainder of the meeting up to entering Executive Session, not to return to public meeting (42 minutes)
