social studies under review at State level, consideration of addition of civics

adoption of new science standards, 6th grade will be fully implemented this year
2nd round of training on responsive classroom, by end of next year all at MS should be trained
implementation of advisory programs

follow up on mental health awareness day
a station on yoga was used, a yoga club is being started
COPE.com has coping strategies
teachers are incorporating the strategies themselves to help with a common language

curriculum is not a static thing, needs to be reviewed to ensure currency yearly

had not had class meetings with prior schedule, now able to do so with change in schedule

looking to enable outreach to parents/guardians on signs of student stress

in depth look at grading practices, focused on core academics, but looking at how to measure that learning

making curriculum as inclusive as possible

new teacher academy, borne out of the new teacher orientation; 14 at FHS
meant to support the new educators

working on communications, heard want and need of what is happening
bi-weekly to parents, improving with use of social media
quite a bit to communicate out
school council meetings were active last year
positive opening, 1791 students at FHS

"there is a vibrancy in the school system"
