The LiveARTS String Quartet returns to Franklin to perform a program of beloved classical masterworks - May 17

The Franklin-based LiveARTS String Quartet is pleased to announce that it will appear in concert on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3:00 at the Franklin Historical Museum, 80 West Central St. in Franklin. Tickets may be purchased at liveartsstringquartet.org. A sold-out house is anticipated, so patrons are encouraged to reserve their tickets early to be guaranteed a seat. The program will include masterworks by Haydn, Mendelssohn, and Schumann.

Founded in 2009 by violist Donald Krishnaswami, the LiveARTS String Quartet features some of the Boston area's finest professional string players.

The members of the Quartet include Gregory Vitale and Katherine Winterstein, violins, Donald Krishnaswami, viola, and Jan Müller-Szeraws, cello. The Quartet is funded in part by a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and by donations from individuals and local businesses.

Born of Franklin’s popular LiveARTS concert series, the group served as the organization's string quartet-in-residence from 2009 until LiveARTS' dissolution in 2025. For twenty-five years, LiveARTS brought world-class classical chamber music performances to the Franklin community. Now operating independently, the LiveARTS String Quartet is working to bring a regular season of exceptional live performances to audiences in Franklin and other southwestern suburbs of Boston, maintaining the high artistic standards established during its time with LiveARTS.

Join the LiveARTS String Quartet in concert on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Franklin Historical Museum, 80 West Central Street, Franklin. Tickets may be purchased at liveartsstringquartet.org.

Announcing the next LiveARTS String Quartet concert - and more!

Hello music lovers!

What a crazy winter we all just survived -- we hope you made it through unscathed. And while all that snow was falling, some good things were falling into place with The LiveARTS String Quartet!

NEXT CONCERT COMING SOON!

We are excited to announce our next concert in Franklin this season! The concert will take place on

Sunday, May 17 at 3:00
Franklin Historical Museum
80 West Central Street, Franklin

Masterworks by
Franz Joseph Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn,
and Robert Schumann.

For this concert tickets are on sale for a modest admission charge:
  • Adults $25
  • Seniors 65+ $20
  • Students12+ $15
  • Under 12 Free

Those of you who attended the concert last November will remember how wildly popular it was -- so much so that many people had to stand. Purchasing tickets in advance for this concert will guarantee you a seat -- but seating is limited. There is a cap of 70 tickets available.

Any remaining tickets will be available for purchase at the door -- but do not wait to purchase tickets at the door, as we anticipate that tickets will sell out before the concert date. That means there may be standing room only on the day of the concert for those who did not purchase tickets in advance -- so you'll want to act now to secure your seats!

NEW WEBSITE!

We are delighted to announce that we have a brand new website, liveartsstringquartet.org. Here you may purchase tickets, make a donation, read about the LASQ, hear and view concert clips, and contact us.

MASS CULTURAL COUNCIL GRANT RECEIVED!

We are thrilled and grateful to announce that the LiveARTS String Quartet has been awarded a grant by the Massachusetts Cultural Council. These grants are highly competitive -- as a matter of fact, only 14% of grant applications were approved for funding in the recent grant cycle, and there were thousands of applications. That speaks volumes about how the Commonwealth's leading arts funding organization views the contribution of the LASQ to the artistic life of our community!

Along with the continued generous support of our patrons, this grant enables us to present additional concerts, including the one coming in May, and another one in early fall. More information will be forthcoming about the fall concert.

YOUR SUPPORT IS STILL NEEDED

Even with the MCC grant and a small concert admission price, it still takes more to make concerts of this caliber possible. Whether you have donated in the past to the LASQ, or this is your first time, now is your opportunity to join forces with the Massachusetts Cultural Council and be - or continue to be - a part of this pioneering effort by making your donation of any amount via our new website. Just click here, or, as you set up your May 17 concert ticket order, you may add a donation right within the order.

We thank you deeply for your support!

Now, with all that good news, we are super eager for May 17, when we'll all be transported to that place of beauty and respite that great music takes us -- so very needed in these times...

Here are the details again:

Sunday, May 17 at 3:00 p.m.

The LiveARTS String Quartet says Thank you !!!

Dear music lover,

WOWWWW!!!

What an incredible concert experience we had on November 16 at the Franklin Historical Museum! The place was absolutely PACKED. In fact, it was standing room only, with 90 people in attendance and only about 70 chairs!

Here you are, our beautiful audience! Do you see yourself??

Here you are, our beautiful audience! Do you see yourself??
Here you are, our beautiful audience! Do you see yourself??

By the massive turnout for this concert, the people of Franklin and surrounding towns send a message to us loud and clear:
WE WANT THE LIVEARTS STRING QUARTET
HERE IN FRANKLIN!!
We hear you, and we THANK YOU for giving us a clear mandate to continue working hard to make a full season of concerts possible!

At this season of Thanksgiving, the LASQ has much to be grateful for...

To those who attended the concert, thank you SO very much for being there, we loved having you!

And if you didn't attend, thank you for staying tuned with these emails -- we are working hard to make it possible to present more concerts, and we hope you'll be able to make it to another one!

And extra special gratitude to all those who made donations at the door! So many cash donations were coming in that it was impossible to track and source them all.

So please accept our deepest thanks to each of you right here. Every dollar made a difference!
