Franklin Democratic Town Committee schedules Annual Caucus - June 3 at 12 PM
The Franklin Democratic Town Committee is gathering on Saturday, June 3 at 12 PM for the annual caucus, electing 16 delegates to serve at the Massachusetts Democratic annual convention.
All registered democrats in Franklin are eligible to serve as delegates and all are welcome to attend. Come see democracy in action and get to meet some local Democratic leaders.

Reminder: Franklin Democrats to caucus virtually on March 5, 2022
On Saturday March 5 at 4:00 PM Democrats will convene virtually to elect delegates and alternates to represent Franklin at the 2022 State Democratic Convention.
Registered and pre-registered Democrats in Franklin 16 years old by February 4, 2022 may vote and be elected as delegates or alternates during the caucus. Youth (age 16 to 35), people with disabilities, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community not elected as delegates or alternates are encouraged to apply to be add-on delegates at the caucus or by visiting massdems.org/convention.
The 2022 Convention will be a hybrid convention, with in-person proceedings taking place alongside virtual participation options on June 3 and 4 at the DCU Center in Worcester. Delegates will convene to endorse candidates for statewide office ahead of the September Democratic Primary. The MassDems are closely monitoring changes in public health guidance and will update plans accordingly.

Franklin Democrats to caucus virtually on March 5, 2022
On Saturday March 5 at 4:00 PM Democrats will convene virtually to elect delegates and alternates to represent Franklin at the 2022 State Democratic Convention.

Franklin To Elect Delegates To Democratic State Convention - July 17, 2021
Registered Democrats in Franklin will hold a caucus on July 17, 2021 at 2 PM to elect Delegates and Alternates to the 2021 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention. The caucus will take place virtually on zoom. Democrats who wish to participate virtually may register at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMocOurqjguHNWRtmkRlT4FNs6GohTkSuJx
This year’s state convention will be held on September 25th at the Tsongas Center, Lowell, MA, where Democrats from across the state will come together to adopt a Party platform, discuss Party business and celebrate our successes as we prepare for upcoming elections. The event will take place in-line with all federal, state and local health guidelines and will include a virtual option for participation.
The caucus is open to all registered and pre-registered Democrats in Franklin. Pre-registered Democrats who will be 16 by June 15, 2021 will be allowed to participate and run as a Delegate or Alternate. Franklin can elect 14 Delegates and 4 Alternates to the Convention.
Youth, minorities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals who are not elected as a Delegate or Alternate may apply to be an Add-on Delegate at the caucus or at www.massdems.org by August 6, 2021.

Cancellation of Franklin Democratic Town Caucus - March 19
The previously announced Franklin Democratic Town Caucus on March 19 that was to be held at the Elks Club in Franklin has been canceled until further notice.

Franklin to Elect State Convention Delegates - Mar 19
Registered Democrats in Franklin will hold a caucus to elect Delegates and Alternates to the 2020 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention. The Caucus will be held at the Elks Lodge, 1077 Pond Street, Franklin, MA on March 19 at 6:30 PM. Doors will open at 6:00 PM for registration. The caucus will begin at 6:45 PM.
This year’s state convention will be held May 30th at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, where thousands of Democrats from across the state will come together to discuss Party business and celebrate our successes as we prepare for upcoming elections.

Manufacturing Caucus hosts Fourth Annual Manufacturing Award Ceremony
Plansee USA Company in Franklin, received a Manufacturer of the Year Award at the Fourth Annual Manufacturing Award Ceremony at the State House. The company is a leading manufacturer of heat resistant metals. An international, private company with facilities in Europe and the United States, Plansee has seven U.S. production sites employing 1,100 employees.
In Franklin, Plansee occupies 62,000 square feet and specializes in machining and fabrication of Molybdenum and Tungsten products. Plansee holds more than 2,000 patents worldwide and serves clients from the development of prototypes through the manufacturing of products. Some important Plansee products include shielding for high temperature furnaces, components for x-ray tubes and CT scans and components used for the manufacture of LED chips and transistors. Plansee was nominated by State Representative Jeffrey N. Roy (D-Franklin).
“We recognized 78 manufacturers who have had an impact on our economy, created jobs, and are contributing to the renaissance of manufacturing in our state,” said Rep. Jeffrey N. Roy (D - Franklin), House Chair of the Legislature’s Manufacturing Caucus. And I am delighted that we had the opportunity to honor them and showcase their innovative and revolutionary manufacturing capabilities and products. The company has been expanding and growing and offers great career pathways in the Franklin area.”
The Award Ceremony was the state’s Fourth Annual Manufacturing Award Ceremony sponsored by the Legislature’s Manufacturing Caucus. Along with Plansee USA, 77 manufacturers were recognized for truly “making it” in Massachusetts. The ceremony honored the manufacturers and showcased their innovative and revolutionary manufacturing capabilities and products. The event included companies who make specialty and custom tools, decorative glass, baby products, marine robotics, gaskets, vacuum and cryogenic equipment, headwear apparel, custom scoliosis and spinal orthotic fabrication, medical devices, plant-based bioplastic products, and even chicken nuggets and fresh milled flour.
Representative Roy, Senator Eric P. Lesser (Co-Chair of the Caucus), Secretary of Housing & Economic Development Michael Kennealy, House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo and Ms. Brooke Thomson, Executive Vice President of Government Affairs at Associated Industries of Massachsuetts (AIM) offered remarks at the ceremony.
Formed in August 2014, the Manufacturing Caucus includes more than 60 legislators from around the Commonwealth. Lawmakers focus on training for manufacturing employees; encouraging innovation by helping start-ups access resources; and expanding apprenticeship opportunities in key manufacturing sectors.
“Manufacturing is a critical part of our Commonwealth’s innovation economy, and the ‘Made in MA’ companies recognized today show the regional diversity of this sector,” said Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Mike Kennealy. “Through programs like the Massachusetts Manufacturing Innovation Initiative (M2I2) and the Advanced Manufacturing Training Program, the Baker-Polito Administration has partnered with the legislature to support and invest in manufacturing across Massachusetts.”
"Whether it's building the components for solar panels, advanced batteries, or cutting-edge medical devices, Massachusetts is home to some of the world's most cutting edge manufacturers. This industry is also growing and desperate for workers, and today's celebration is meant to recognize the companies and organizations hiring and growing in every corner of our Commonwealth." Plansee Company History
The company under the name of American Electro Metal Corp. was incorporated in the state of Maryland on October 27,1939 by Dr. Paul Schwarzkopf, a pioneer in powder metallurgy and founder of Plansee in Reutte, Austria. Demands in the lighting industry and material developments to support the U.S. Industry during and after WWII contributed to increased business activities with refractory metals. As a result the company changed its name to Schwarzkopf Development Corp in 1955 and established a warehouse and sales cooperation in Holliston, Massachusetts in 1970.
The company continued to undergo rapid growth which resulted in the investment into machining and fabrication of refractory metals in the 1980s. To enhance the company's focus on high- tech applications, the company changed its name to Schwarzkopf Technologies in 1991. Limited space and further increase in business activities led to the decision to build a new production facility with a square footage of 62,000 in Franklin, Massachusetts in 1996. With the full integration into the Plansee High Performance Materials (HPM) division and as part of a global operating company, Schwarzkopf Technologies changed its name to Plansee USA at the end of 2007.

Franklin Democrats to Caucus May 18
Registered Democrats in Franklin will be holding a caucus at the Franklin Public Library located at 118 Main Street on May 18 to elect delegates and alternates to the 2019 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention.
Registration begins at 1:00 PM, and the Caucus opens at 1:30 PM You must be registered no later than 1:45 PM to vote or be considered as a delegate. Voting will begin at 1:45 PM.
This year's state convention will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at the MassMutual Center in Springfield for the purpose of amending the Party Charter.
The caucus is open to all registered and preregistered Democrats in Franklin. New this year, preregistered Democrats who will be 16 years of age by May 11, 2019, will be allowed to participate and run as a delegate or alternate. A Franklin voter may register as a Democrat with the Town Clerk or at the caucus and then run for a delegate slot. Delegate candidates must be present or have informed a co-chair of the Franklin Democratic Town Committee prior to the Caucus of their intent to be nominated.
At the caucus, Democrats will elect 14 delegates and 4 alternates to the convention. Delegates will be divided equally between men and women with one any-gender delegate, and all ballots will be written and secret.
In the spirit of inclusion, youth, minorities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ individuals who are not elected as a delegate or alternate may apply to be an add-on delegate at the caucus or at www.massdems.org. The deadline to apply to be an add-on delegate is July 8.
The Franklin Public Library is handicapped accessible.
