If the holiday view at the downtown triangle looks in disarray, it was vandalized

Unfortunately, after many volunteers decorated downtown Franklin on the weekend before Thanksgiving, some folks apparently thought of other things to do with the decorations (aside from leaving them alone!).

A report was filed with the Franklin Police the week of Dec 6, 2021:

  • multiple bows on the Rome side bridge were taken

  • greens and bows on the train side bridge were pulled out

  • one wreath on the train side bridge is missing

  • the red candy cane on the sleigh was removed

  • gift boxes previously stacked in the sleigh were thrown over the fencing to the tracks below

Franklin Police responded to the report, took photos to add to the report, and will step up patrols.

If anyone knows of, or saw the vandal(s) in action, please let Franklin Police know. They can take tips at their tip line -> 508-440-2780.

Celebrating Downtown Franklin and Beyond This Winter

On Saturday, Nov. 21, members of the Franklin Downtown Partnership, Franklin Garden Club, and resident volunteers will decorate downtown Franklin for the holidays with wreaths, greenery and bows provided by Hillside Nurseries. Volunteers will work from 9 AM to noon. The rain date is Nov. 22. Please email emason4234@gmail.com if you are able to volunteer to dress up the downtown for the holidays!

All volunteers will wear masks and maintain appropriate social distancing, said Eileen Mason, chair of the beautification efforts in downtown.

“We really appreciate the efforts of all our volunteers and the DPW to decorate the area,”  said Mason. “Please come to downtown Franklin to shop for your holiday presents and enjoy the decorations,” said Mason.

In addition to downtown decorations, the FDP is inviting everyone to participate in “Light Up Downtown Franklin and Beyond” with lights and winter decorations in downtown businesses and beyond from Nov. 21 to March 1. Thank you to the sponsors of this event: Platinum Sponsor Dean Bank, Gold Sponsors Fenton Financial Group and Keefe Insurance Agency, and Silver Sponsor Station 117 Apartments.

“We want to emphasize the importance of shopping local and supporting Franklin businesses this winter season,” said Roberta Trahan, vice president of the FDP. “Our local businesses are so important to our town and we want to make sure they thrive during these difficult times.”

The Franklin Downtown Partnership is a nonprofit, 501©3 organization made up of nearly 300 business owners, community leaders and residents working to stimulate economic development downtown and create a positive impact throughout the area. Franklin Downtown Partnership has been busy and shows!

Downtown decorated for Fall

"On September 16, members of the Franklin Downtown Partnership, Franklin Garden Club, resident volunteers and DPW decorated the downtown area with mums, pumpkins, and other autumnal decor from Hillside Nurseries and Franklin Agway.

“This year, we feel it’s more important than ever to roll out the red carpet to our downtown by beautifying it with autumn decorations,” said Roberta Trahan, vice president of the FDP. “We want to encourage people to shop local and support Franklin businesses.”

Long-time chair of the beautification efforts in downtown, Eileen Mason, said all the volunteers maintained appropriate social distancing and wore masks while installing the fall decorations.

“We wanted to make sure we beautified the downtown in the safest way possible,” said Mason. “Many thanks to our volunteers, Hillside Nurseries, the Department of Public Works and Franklin Agway for making this possible.”

Kindness Rocks find new life

"Franklin Downtown Partnership, Berry Insurance and other local volunteers are spreading kindness and positivity by breathing new life into the Kindness Rocks Garden located in the green space next to Rockland Trust in downtown Franklin.

Originally installed in the summer of 2018, the Kindness Rocks Garden was a huge hit with people who took rocks painted with inspirational messages and pictures. Now, a new push is on to create more painted rocks to place at the Kindness Rocks Garden.

“We’re excited to continue the new tradition of a Kindness Rocks garden in downtown Franklin. Together we can help spread more kindness one rock at a time.” said Kaitlyn Pintarich of Berry Insurance.

The project is an extension of a popular national initiative called The Kindness Rocks Project that has a mission of promoting random acts of kindness to unsuspecting recipients by painting and dropping inspirational rocks."

Attention Businesses: FDP Decorating Committee Needs Help to Make Franklin Look Great this Fall
We are encouraging businesses to decorate by September 20 to help celebrate the season.
