Fur And Feather Families Take Note! Vet Med Pet Supplies has been helping Franklin area pets for almost 40 years

Written by Lyn MacLean

Fur And Feather Families Take Note!

Vet Med Pet Supplies is being highlighted as the third in our “Shop Local for the holidays” series.  This quaint shop is located at 359 West Central Street and has been serving the community for almost 40 years since 1983.

The shop caters to Dogs, Cats, Small Birds and Fish, Rabbits, Reptiles, Guinea pigs, and even Chinchillas.  The store offers high-quality foods, grooming supplies, and non-prescription health aids for allergies and anxiety.  Is your dog anxious or could become overwhelmed with all the holiday hustle and visitors?  The store even has a large selection of CBD oral health aids to help calm anxious dogs.

“Our team has a wonderful depth of knowledge and works hard to provide personal service to our customers”, the owner Karen Walsh stated. “One of our staff members has even worked for local zoos and a vet in town” she emphasized.  The staff enjoys assisting customers with fitting collars, harnesses, and winter coats to establish a proper fit for the animal.   This is the type of personalized pet service you typically do not receive in a big box pet store.

Currently, Stella and Chewy’s brand is offering a special holiday promotion.  The sale offers to buy 3 freeze-dried food items for dogs for $25.00 and buy 3 Crav’n Bac’n Biscuits for $20.00.  In addition, they offer to buy one get one free canned cat food.  This promotion runs until the end of the year.

All animals are welcome to visit the store as well.  Upon arrival, they will be greeted with a special treat and can walk, hop or crawl around the store to see what they like.  Vet Met has welcomed cats, rabbits, dogs, and even ferrets to visit the store.   Save time, visit Vet Med with plenty of parking available.  Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday 10-6 pm and Sunday 12-5.

Lastly, remember that last-minute gift idea of a gift card!  Vet Med Pet Supplies is a participant in the THINK FRANKLIN FIRST GIFT CARDS.

The cards are available for purchase in any denomination at Dean Bank or franklingiftcard.com.  This website provides the most up-to-date list of participating businesses.

Franklin Police have some advice on how to "Prevent Porch Pirates"

As the cold winds and dark afternoons draw closer so do the Porch Pirates…

We’ve already experienced several calls involving swashbuckling pirates stealing packages off people's porches.
how to "Prevent Porch Pirates"
how to "Prevent Porch Pirates"

To deter Porch Piracy you can:
1. Schedule delivery times to a time you know you’ll be home
2. Request a signature for high-value packages
3. Regularly track all shipments
4. Get to know your neighbors and see if they can grab your deliveries for you
5. Display a home security sign or other security deterrents
6. Get a big dog
7. Install a doorbell camera or other outdoor cameras

Remember….only you can prevent Porch Pirates this holiday season. If you find yourself victimized by these seasonal pirates or think you see these pirates in action, give us a call at 508-528-1212.

Beacon Hill recap: Conf Committee reaches agreement on FY 23 budget; Negro Election Day on Gov Baker's desk for approval

"Lawmakers strike deal for $52 billion budget, including more cash for embattled MBTA "

"More than two weeks after their fiscal year started, Massachusetts legislative leaders on Sunday unveiled an agreement on a $52 billion state budget bill they said would dedicate hundreds of millions of additional dollars to the MBTA, sock away more cash in the state’s savings account, and includes $1.8 billion more in spending than either the House or Senate initially approved.

The $51.9 billion spending plan, which lawmakers expect to pass and send to Governor Charlie Baker on Monday, reflects the state’s heady fiscal times, with tax revenues flowing far above estimates and lawmakers simultaneously racing to pass a separate $1 billion tax relief proposal by month’s end."

"‘African Americans have enriched Massachusetts for centuries’: Mass. lawmakers approve Negro Election Day holiday"
"Decades before the country’s founding, some Black Americans in Massachusetts could participate in a limited form of self-governance. And on Thursday, Massachusetts lawmakers backed a new state holiday to honor that long tradition of civic power.

The bill, which still needs Governor Charlie Baker’s approval, would set aside the third Saturday in July as Negro Election Day, recognizing the adoption of the first Black voting system in Massachusetts in 1741 — when Black people could still be held in bondage by white slaveholders. "
