2 passes complete, looks like 1 to go - King St paving status

Hopefully the last pass of paving will complete on Thursday.

I also hope that the white lines return soon. Given the behavior of some of the drivers today (after the paving crews finished) making three lanes where there normally were two.

After King St, the crews will work on East Central (from Ruggles to Lewis), Union (from Beaver to School St), and Beaver St (from the RR tracks to I-495 overpass) - possibly in that order. We'll watch for updates from the DPW.

King St paving scheduled to begin July 26

Digital signs indicate that the paving of King St is scheduled to begin Tuesday, July 26. The slalom like drive along King St will come to an end as the paving completes.

Unfortunately, the speed of the traffic will likely increase with the newly paved surface. Be cautious!

In case you missed it: King St from Union to East Central St (RT 140) was milled and will be repaved as part of the mill and overlay project.

MassDOT: Rt 140 Road Construction Status Update

Rt 140 Road Construction Status Update

9/24/19

The Town had received many inquiries as to when the road work will be completed on State Highway Route 140 at the Exit 17 off ramp intersection. The Town has contacted the state to receive this update.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is anticipating completion of paving Rt 140 by the end of this week or early next week, weather dependent.

The pavement will need to cure for 3 days before painting and striping. Once the pavement has been striped, paving of Apron/Entrances will commence.

The state is looking at completing the entire project within roughly two weeks.

Downtown Project Update #37

Work Schedule for the week of June 27 to July 1.
The Contractor will be milling for crosswalks only beginning at the intersection of Main/Pleasant St. Sunday night and Monday night.
The Contractor is scheduled to pave Wednesday night and Thursday night. The area they plan to pave will be East Central St, the small section of West Central St and any additional area on Main St we can get to. We will be able to keep at least one lane open so there will be no major detours.
There will be no night work Tuesday night.
Please contact the Town Administrator's Office at 520-4949 with any questions. We will continue to keep the public informed through our website, Twitter and Facebook.

Please be aware as you enter these intersections there may be detours throughout downtown.

Signals making downtown a two-way intersection should be tentatively taking effect mid-July.

Please contact the Town Administrator's Office at 520-4949 with any questions. We will continue to keep the public informed through our website, Twitter and Facebook.

Downtown Project Update #16

November 6, 2015

"MassDOT was unable to pave Thursday night. Their plan is to finish West Central Street and Summer Street on Monday during the day.
They will keep one lane of traffic open on West Central Street so they will not need to detour traffic.
If anyone has a question, please feel free to reach out to the DPW Director, Brutus Cantoreggi or Town Engineer, Michael Maglio at 508-553-5500 or Jeffrey Nutting, Town Administrator at 508-520-4949."

PS - I think this meant to say "unable to complete paving" - if it wasn't MassDOT, somebody paved Thursday but clearly did not complete the job

Downtown paving rescheduled for Thursday night

As I got to the train station this morning, I realized the paving had not been done over night as scheduled.

Fortunately, I did find this update on the Franklin webpage to explain the situation:

"The Hot Mix Asphalt Plant that Walsh uses (Pawtucket Asphalt) had a major mechanical failure and will not be operational until tomorrow morning. We are moving our paving operations to Thursday night.

If anyone has a question, please feel free to reach out to the DPW Director, Brutus Cantoreggi or Town Engineer, Michael Maglio at 508-553-5500 or Jeffrey Nutting, Town Administrator at 508-520-4949."
