LET'S LAUGH TODAY in Franklin is on Wednesday, February, 14

You can celebrate Valentine's Day with Let's Laugh Today on Wednesday, February 14th from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Meetinghouse of the First Universalist Society in Franklin, 262 Chestnut Street, Franklin!

Everyone will receive a Valentine and a chocolate along with many belly laughs! (Bring more chocolate to share if you want.)

Laughter Yoga is a body/mind practice for well-being that involves deep breathing and a few stretches, playful laughter exercises (no jokes or comedy), clapping and deep relaxation. It has many benefits besides the joy of laughter. It can strengthen the immune system, combat the negative effects of stress, and is a powerful antidote to depression and anxiety.

Any age and any level of physical ability can participate in this uplifting experience! There is a $5 donation to the church, $10 maximum per family.

Please bring your water bottle because laughing can be dehydrating. Led by Certified Laughter Yoga Teachers, Linda and Bill Hamaker. See www.letslaughtoday.com.

Franklin Garden Club: “Attracting Birds - Winter and Summer”

“Attracting Birds - Winter and Summer” will be the focus of the Tuesday, February 6 meeting of the Franklin Garden Club. The meeting will take place at the Franklin Senior Center, 10 Daniel McCahill Street, from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. The meeting is open to the public, including those interested in becoming a member of the Garden Club.

Ellen Davis, owner of Wild Birds Unlimited in Franklin, MA, will be the featured speaker. She will highlight the types of feeders, food and locations that can support a wide variety of birds coming to a yard or garden in every season. Store manager Haley Perry will assist with the presentation.

Davis, an avid birder, opened her store in 1996 in Medway, MA and then moved it to Franklin in 2011. Her interests in birds, as well as more than 28 years experience as a buyer for Jordan Marsh and the New England Aquarium has enabled her to establish a successful retail operation that is a well known resource for those interested in attracting and enjoying birds.

Circle of Friends Coffeehouse: Chelsea Berry Feb 10 with Billy Keane

CHELSEA BERRY

February 10th, $20
with special guest
Billy Keane
Chelsea Berry returns to the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse on Saturday, February 10th, at 8PM.  Chelsea appeared in Franklin last spring performing with Livingston Taylor and she was so impressive that she was invited back as a featured performer.

She is a singer-songwriter with the edge, power, and finesse of legends. Her presence has been described by listeners as "compelling… she draws the entire house into her world like moths to a flame." As a vocalist and performer, she evokes the style of artists such as Cheryl Crow, Eva Cassidy, KD Lang, and Melissa Etheridge.

Singer-songwriter Livingston Taylor calls her vocals "world class" and says of Berry, "A voice of remarkable power and control with a joyous soul. Brave and bright, Chelsea Berry is the real thing." Berry's beautiful voice and commanding stage presence has brought her across the U.S. as regular support for Livingston and others as well as headliner of her own shows. Born and raised in Alaska, she now makes her home in NYC.

Her music transcends its indie rock roots and touches listeners with its poetic lyric, bold melodies, and pure, clear, powerful vocals. Singer/songwriter Chris Smither says Berry is "..Great, talented, beautiful … her future is so bright you're gonna have to wear shades."  http://www.chelseaberry.com/

Opening the show will be Billy Keane, a folk musician for a new generation.  His music combines compelling story telling and socially relevant lyrical poetry with melodies and accompaniments ranging from the energetic and heart-pumping to the introspective and achingly touching.  http://www.therealbillykeane.com/
