FHS gymnastics posts win in opening meet on Friday, boys basketball (video)

Via Instagram, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Friday, December 19, 2025

Girls Basketball = Foxboro, 41 @ Franklin – 31 – Final
– Foxboro held the Panthers to just one made field goal in the first half and built a 15-point lead going into the break. Franklin’s offense came alive in the third, outscoring the Warriors 14-4 to get back into the game, but Foxboro scored 18 points in the fourth, including eight from top scorer Adrianna Porazzo (4-for-4 from the line) and seven from Alaysia Drummonds, to seal the win. The first quarter was a struggle for both teams, but Foxboro led 7-0 after one. In the second, freshman Gia Porazzo scored five points (the first points of her varsity career) and Foxboro won the quarter 12-4 to build a double-digit cushion. The Panthers came to life in the third behind a pair of threes and 10 points from Sophia Sacramone, who finished with 11 for the game. Liz Dumais added four points and Franklin trimmed the deficit to just five going to the fourth. Foxboro won a shootout in the fourth, outscoring the Panthers 18-13. Adrianna Porazzo and Drummonds led the way for the visitors, while Tessah Rodrigues scored seven to try and bring Franklin back into it. Porazzo scored a game-high 13 and Drummonds finished with a dozen.

Boys Basketball  = Foxboro, 53 @ Franklin, 48 – Final
– Foxboro took a two-point lead at the end of the first quarter and never trailed the rest of the way, holding onto a slim lead for the majority of the game before finally closing out the win in the final seconds, marking the Warriors’ first win over the Panthers since 2017. After Franklin senior Jack Sullivan (career-high 21 points) converted a bucket in transition to pull the Panthers within one early in the fourth, Henry Griffin found sophomore Logan Walford down low with a beautiful pass for an easy two, and Timmy Kerzner-Greenwell splashed in a triple on a feed from Cam DeLeskey (9 points) to push the lead to 47-41. Sullivan drained a three for Franklin with 4:38 to go but the Panthers went without points for over two minutes and Colin Trimble (career-high 19 points) had a strong finish at the rim, and Griffin cleaned up an offensive rebound for two more to make it 51-44 with two minutes to go. Franklin didn’t go quietly though as Gio Carlucci stole a pass and laid it in for two with 44 seconds to go, and Kyle Batla snagged a loose ball that led to a layup for Sullivan with 30 seconds to go to make it 51-48. Batla got another steal at midcourt with 15 seconds left but Franklin was off the mark. Foxboro sophomore Bobby Hickox calmly sank a pair of free throws right in front of the student section to ice it with 4.3 seconds left.

Swimming = King Philip @ Franklin, 6:45

Gymnastics = North Attleboro, 117.45 @ Franklin, 129.70 – Final
– Franklin opened the season with a home tri-meet, earning wins over Canton and North Attleboro, posting a team score of 129.70. Senior captains Abby Robillard and Kendra Love anchored the lineup with consistent performances across all four events. Robillard scored an 8.0 on vault, followed with a 7.8 on bars, a 7.6 on beam, and an 8.05 on floor, while Love added an 8.55 on vault, a 7.75 on beam, and an 8.25 on floor. With Summer Around The Corner, Water Safety Should Be Top of Mind

May is National Water Safety Month. When the weather starts to get warmer, the pools, lakes, oceans, rivers and other bodies of water start calling! While swimming can be a very enjoyable activity this summer, it is important to remind all parents and caregivers of the importance of water safety. We are sharing these tips on how children can stay safe in and around water.

Tip #1: Make sure children know to always ask permission before going in or near the water.
Teaching your children to be water smart is the first step in water safety – be sure they understand the importance of asking permission before going in or near the water.

Tip #2: Never swim alone without a water watcher.
When children swim, ensure they are actively supervised at all times. Teach your children that they should only swim in locations where a lifeguard is on duty, or where a responsible adult agrees to watch the children in the water without distractions.

Tip #3: Supervise your children whenever they’re in or near water.
Whether it’s bath time or taking a dip in a pool or waterfront, make sure your children are within arm’s reach at all times.

Tip #4: Don’t engage in breath-holding activities.
Children should not hold their breath for a prolonged amount of time while swimming, as this can be dangerous.

Tip #5: Wear a life jacket.
Inexperienced or non-swimmers should always wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket while in or around the water.

Tip #6: Don’t jump in the water to save a friend who is struggling in deep water.
If a child finds their friend in deep water unexpectedly, their natural reaction may be to jump in the water to try and save them. Even if a child is a great swimmer, a panicked person will overpower them, pulling the rescuer under water. The Y’s Safety Around Water program teaches the “reach, throw, don’t go” concept of using a long object to reach for them, and pull them to safety. By using this technique, children can help their friend without compromising their own safety.

Tip # 7: Use four-sided fencing with self-closing, self-latching gates, pool covers, and alarm systems to help prevent children from accessing water unsupervised.
Water safety isn’t just during swim time. Know the five layers of protection which include: barriers & alarms, supervision, water competency, life jackets and emergency preparation. You never know which layer will save a life.

Tip #8: Prepare for emergencies by making sure everyone in your home takes water safety, first aid and CPR Courses.
Training in lifesaving skills such as lifeguarding and CPR presents opportunities for us all to take greater responsibility for ourselves and others. The Hockomock Area YMCA offers lifeguard and CPR training programs with full certification. We also babysitting courses and first aid training. The Hockomock Y is offering lifeguard certification courses.  Visit www.hockymca.org and select Register for Programs.

All of the Hockomock Y’s water safety tips are located on the Y’s website: www.hockymca.org/water-safety-tips/

As a leading nonprofit committed to youth development, the Y has been a leader in providing swim lessons and water safety for more than 100 years. The Y continues to help youth and adults experience the joy and benefits of swimming, so they can be healthy, confident and secure in the water. There are a variety of programs to choose from, including swim lessons for all ages, water fitness classes, competitive swimming, and family swim times. To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate, financial assistance is available to those in need to help cover costs.

The Hockomock Y is enrolling swim lessons starting May 12th for Summer! To learn more, visit: https://www.hockymca.org/summer-classes/

In addition to learning lifesaving water safety skills, children can increase their physical activity by swimming. Swimming also motivates children to strive for self-improvement, teaches goal orientation, and cultivates a positive mental attitude and high self-esteem. It also teaches life lessons of sport and sportsmanship, so that children can learn how to work well with teammates and coaches and how to deal with winning and losing.

FHS girls swim team take 1st & boys take 2nd in MIAA South Sectionals

via HockomockSports.com Staff, we can additional info on the MIAA South Sectional Swim meet results:
"Swimmers from the Hockomock League made a splash at the MIAA South Sectional meets over the weekend at MIT, especially on the girls side.

Hock swimmers took first place in eight of the 11 events on the girls side, three more boys swimmers were sectional champs, and the Franklin girls team earned a convincing win to secure its second South sectional title in the past three seasons.

Senior Harika Birali was the lone individual winner for the Panthers with a first-place finish in the 100 yard backstroke, and then teamed up with senior Kseniya Baghdasaryan, sophomore Ava Pecora, and senior Taylor O’Neil to win the 400 free relay. Despite just the two first place finishes, Franklin had a top seven finish in all but one race as its depth earned crucial points throughout the meet to finish with 229 points — well ahead of second place Dover-Sherborn."

Girls Basketball = Franklin, 42 @ King Philip, 54 – Final
Josh Perry || HockomockSports.com Managing Editor provides the game recap ->
"Throughout the first half of Friday night’s Kelley-Rex title showdown in the Wooden Gym, King Philip felt like it was on the verge of being able to pull away and put some distance between itself and Franklin, but the Panther kept finding ways to answer back.

In the third quarter, that changed. The Warriors went on a 16-0 run and outscored Franklin 18-3 overall to turn a three-point game into a comfortable 20-point cushion.

Although the Panthers responded with 16 points in the fourth, KP never looked that troubled over the final eight minutes and celebrated a 54-42 victory. It was KP’s first win over the Panthers since December 2013, a stretch of 22 games, and it moved the teams into a first-place tie with four league games remaining."

FHS girls swim tops Milford, girls (video) & boys basketball teams top Taunton on Friday

Via Twitter, Franklin TV, and our subscription to HockomockSports.com, we share the results of the Winter sports competition for Franklin High School on Friday, January 3, 2025

Boys Basketball – ‘Taylor Tough’ Night = Franklin, 73 @ Taunton, 49 – Final
– Franklin came out of the gates flying, exploding for 26 points in the first eight minutes and the Panthers never looked back from that point on. Even after the host Tigers limited the Panthers to eight points in the second quarter, Franklin started the second half in similar fashion as they did the beginning of the game, pouring in 25 points in the third. Joseph Conlan hit one of Franklin’s four threes in the opening quarter and scored all nine of his points in the frame, Seth O’Donnell added a three, and Wyatt Herndon hit two triples as the Panthers jumped ahead 26-8. Senior Jake Olmstead hit eight shots from the floor and finished with a career-high 18 points, senior Caden Sullivan finished with 14 points, and Herndon added two more triples to finish with a career-high 12 points. Junior Seun Olaniyan scored a career-high 16 points for the Tigers while sophomore Amari Campbell also notched a new career-best with 11 points.

Girls Basketball = Taunton, 38 @ Franklin, 56 – Final
Josh Perry, Managing Editor of HockomockSports.com, provides the game recap:
"Senior Lauryn DiGiorgio has suffered through a pair of frustrating seasons. The forward has battled injuries and hasn’t been able to contribute since her freshman year, but this winter she’s returned to the court and added a new dimension to the Franklin offense.

During Friday night’s visit from Taunton, DiGiorgio’s impact was on full display. She knocked down six threes (two each in the first and second quarters and one each in the third and fourth) and scored a game-high 18 points to power Franklin to a 56-38 victory over a fellow Kelley-Rex division title contender.

Franklin coach John Leighton said, “Just the ability to play, no matter how it goes, with all the work that she’s put in and all the fear and the doubt and all that, it’s just so rewarding. I knew Lauryn was due for a night like this because she’s just a pure shooter. It’s one of the purest shots we’ve had in the program but we’ve missed it for a couple years.”

Hockomock Y
Hockomock Y

The Hockomock Y is offering lifeguard certification courses in June at their branches in Foxboro and Franklin. Visit www.hockymca.org and select Register for Programs.

All of our water safety tips are located on the Y’s website: www.hockymca.org/water-safety-tips/

The Hockomock Y is enrolling swim lessons starting May 13th for Summer!
