Tri-County Education Foundation Grant Awards

The Tri-County Education Foundation is pleased to announce it has awarded its’ first grant awards since its’ inception to two Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School clubs. The Robotics club has been awarded $500.00 and the SkillsUSA club has been awarded $500.00.

The funds associated with the awards will be used to fund participation in competitions including travel expenses allowing both clubs to compete at a national level.

Foundation Board President Christopher Ward said, “The grants were awarded to help defray the cost of the transportation and incidentals needed for students to compete, which falls outside the normal scope of school budget funding.”

The Foundation is currently seeking sponsorships within the community for financial support and commitment to the Tri-County community. Those organizations who would like to inquire about becoming a Tri-County Education Foundation sponsor, please go to the website at: tcedfoundation.wordpress.com.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization administered by a 10-member Board of Directors comprised of area business, finance, and education leaders with a vested interest in sustaining quality vocational-technical education programs and growing a capable workforce.

“We’re very excited, and the students are excited”

From the Milford Daily News, articles of interest for Franklin:

"The sounds of jazz will fill the halls of Franklin High next week, as the Jazz Ambassadors from the U.S. Army will entertain the crowd.
The Jazz Ambassadors, a 19-member ensemble formed in 1969 and known as “America’s Big Band,” are the Army’s field band from Washington, D.C. They’re set to perform in Franklin on Monday as part of what tour coordinator and Sgt. 1st Class Todd Stubbs said is a 50th anniversary tour.
The performance will take place at 7 p.m. in the Franklin High auditorium. Jazz Ambassadors concerts include classic Big Band standards, patriotic favorites, contemporary jazz works and original arrangements and compositions by past and present members.
The Jazz Ambassadors have performed in all 50 states, as well as in Canada, Mexico, Japan, India and Europe. They’ve participated in joint concerts with the Boston Pops, at Carnegie Hall and at international jazz festivals."
