Join us each month for Teen Advisory Board! The Teen Advisory Board is a GREAT opportunity to get involved here at the library! Journalist and author Ted Reinstein has reported all around New England for 25 years, telling the colorful stories of this historic yet ever-changing corner of America. Now, he condenses his countless travels into a single, unique labor of love: a journey through the heart and soul of New England, meeting the most memorable people—and their unlikely stories—all along the way. Join us in welcoming Ted to present and discuss his new book, "Travels through the Heart and Soul of New England: Stories of Struggle, Resilience, and Triumph".
Since 1995, Ted Reinstein has been a reporter for Boston/WCVB's celebrated "Chronicle," the nation's longest-running, locally-produced nightly newsmagazine. He has been a contributing member of the WCVB editorial board since 2010. Elsewhere on television, Ted has hosted specials for the Discovery Channel and HGTV. For the Travel Channel's photo/adventure series, "FreezeFrame," he explored Hawaii's volcanoes, the caves of Puerto Rico, and the South Pacific islands of Tahiti. In 2002, he was part of a Chronicle team that received a prestigious National DuPont- Columbia Broadcast Journalism Award for Chronicle's coverage of Boston's Big Dig project. In 2018, he received an Emmy Award for his story on the "Good Night Lights" phenomenon in Providence, Rhode Island. His first book, New England Notebook: One Reporter, Six States, Uncommon Stories, was selected by National Geographic Traveler as one of its "Best Picks." He's also the author of Wicked Pissed: New England's Most Famous Feuds, Before Brooklyn: The Unsung Heroes Who Helped Break Baseball's Color Barrier, and co-author, with his wife, Anne-Marie, of New England's General Stores: Exploring an American Classic.

Friends Always Welcome! Friends of the Franklin Library is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the Franklin Public Library. Franklin Downtown Partnership's Harvest Festival: Be sure to stop by the Friends booth at this year's Harvest Festival, which is being held on Saturday, September 28th from 12 to 5 pm. Learn more about the Friends and pick out a FREE "new to you" book while supplies last. We can't wait to see you there!
The Butterfly Place in Westford, MA is an indoor garden filled with hundreds of freely flying butterflies and is a treat for all ages. The Friends are delighted to have purchased passes to The Butterfly Place as part of the library's awesome Museum Passes program. We encourage Franklin residents to check out their website (www.butterflyplace-ma.com) and plan your visit before they close for the 2024 season on Monday, October 14th. An important reminder: these passes are for Franklin residents only.
