MetroWest Visitors Bureau Awarded Tourism Recovery Grant

The MetroWest Visitors Bureau (MWVB) announced today (Apr 5, 2022) that they have been awarded $99,000 by the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism (MOTT) as part of the Travel and Tourism Recovery Grant Program. This grant award will help fund the MWVB’s new “We Are MetroWest” campaign, designed to highlight the diversity of MetroWest, as well as the following projects by their collaborative partners:

Natick Cultural District’s Natick Nights, Holi Festival, and Multicultural Day marketing

Framingham Centre Common Cultural District’s “Many Cultures, One Heart” public art project and multicultural festival marketing

MetroWest Chamber of Commerce’s guide to underrepresented businesses

Town of Marlborough’s Brazilian Festival, Greek Festival, Marlborough Food Truck & Arts Festival, and Labor Day Weekend event marketing

Town of Ashland’s “The Corner Spot” marketing

Framingham Together’s diversity video

The Bureau’s executive director Erin Lynch says “MetroWest is an incredibly vibrant region, with a variety of cultural experiences to offer its residents and visitors. This award is exciting because it celebrates so many aspects of who we are as a welcoming and inviting destination.”

Part of the “We Are MetroWest” campaign will include a public TV series with episodes highlighting the diversity of MetroWest and its many ethnic and cultural communities and festivals. Episodes will air throughout MetroWest and on the MWVB’s YouTube channel. A new section of the website will be created to promote all “We Are MetroWest” events and activities.

MetroWest Visitors Bureau Announces Mini Grant Program

The MetroWest Visitors Bureau (MWVB) announced today that their annual mini grant program is now accepting applications. Designed for marketing projects that will promote tourism in MetroWest, mini grants are available for funds up to $5,000 each. The MWVB will consider applications for projects devoted to marketing a MetroWest event, attraction, business, service, or cultural or recreational offering. 

The applicant does not need to be a 501(c)3 charitable organization, but must be based in one of the 19 towns that comprise MetroWest or be devoted to attracting potential visitors to those 19 towns.

Eligible projects include brochures, print or online advertising, social media, websites, apps, and other print materials. The marketing project must be targeted, at least partially, at potential visitors who live more than 50 miles from the event or business location. 

Grant applications can be submitted at www.bit.ly/minigrant2022 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis from now until April 1. Awarded grant funds must be spent prior to June 30, 2022.

MetroWest Visitors Bureau Awards $70k in Mini-Grants

The MetroWest Visitors Bureau announced today (4/28/21) the recipients of its spring cycle of mini-grants. The awards, totaling $70k, are funded through the Bureau and the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism to promote MetroWest events, attractions, businesses, services, cultural and recreational opportunities.

“Through these grant projects we are able to highlight our region and stimulate economic recovery,” says Erin Lynch, Executive Director of the Bureau. “We are attracting visitors while generating local enthusiasm and support for MetroWest community businesses.”

One of sixteen Regional Tourism Councils in Massachusetts, the MetroWest Visitors Bureau participates in the state’s MyLocalMA campaign encouraging Massachusetts residents to eat, shop and stay local, and the Bureau’s mini-grant program aligns with that mission.  “As travel begins to open up again,” Lynch says, “it remains critical to include MetroWest in your plans. Our local hotels and attractions have been very hard hit and still need help to survive.”

Throughout the spring and summer, the Bureau will be releasing updates on the funded projects.

MetroWest Visitors Bureau to Offer Mini-Grants - applications open Feb 15

The MetroWest Visitors Bureau (MWVB) announced today a new mini-grant program funded through the MWVB and the Mass Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT). The MWVB will consider mini-grant applications for projects devoted to marketing a MetroWest event, attraction, business, service, or cultural or recreational offering including virtual and online projects.

Grant applications open Feb. 15, 2021, and close April 1, 2021. Projects must be completed by June 30, 2021. Grants will be awarded in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $15,000.

One of sixteen Regional Tourism Councils in Massachusetts, the MetroWest Visitors Bureau participates in the state’s MyLocalMA campaign encouraging Massachusetts residents to eat, shop and stay local. The Bureau’s mini-grant program aligns with that mission and calls for marketing proposals that will increase revenue generation for MetroWest’s designated region: Ashland, Bellingham, Framingham, Franklin, Holliston, Hopedale, Hopkinton, Hudson, Marlborough, Medway, Milford, Millis, Natick, Northborough, Sherborn, Southborough, Sudbury, Wayland and Westborough.

“Many of our region’s attractions, hospitality and retail operations have been hard hit during the Covid pandemic. These grant funds provide some much-needed assistance as we work together to promote local businesses and stimulate economic recovery,” says Erin Lynch, Executive Director of the Visitors Bureau. “Unlike previous years, there is no match required for grant funding, making it even easier for organizations to take advantage of this opportunity.”

Metrowest Visitors Bureau Announces New Executive Director - Erin Lynch

The MetroWest Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce Erin Lynch of Franklin as its new executive director, effective immediately. 

“We are excited to welcome Erin to the organization. She has a solid background of professional achievements working in the MetroWest region. Her enthusiasm, experience and skill set makes her the right candidate to lead the Visitors Bureau. The MetroWest Chamber of Commerce has a long history of working together with the MetroWest Visitors Bureau and we look forward to our continued collaboration with both Erin and Jill Schindler who has been serving as Interim Executive Director.” Says Jim Giammarinaro, Board Treasurer and Search Committee member.

Lynch holds a B.S. in Recreation Management and Tourism from Arizona State University, National Certification in Nonprofit Management, and International Certification in Group Facilitation from the Institute of Cultural Affairs. She brings twenty years of leadership experience focused on collaborative community initiatives.

An alum of the MetroWest Health Foundation’s Health Leadership Program and former Executive Director of the Franklin Food Pantry, her work with the Healthy Futures project continues to serve as a model for hunger relief organizations throughout Massachusetts. The collaborative effort garnered a VIP visit to the White House during the Obama administration. Previously Lynch secured and administered the Arizona Department of Economic Security Volunteer Services contract, and served as Executive Director of the Maddie’s Project, a strategic alliance which secured a multi-million-dollar community grant for the Phoenix area.

Schindler is looking forward to resuming her role as Outreach and Development Director. According to the Bureau’s Board Chair Steve Levinsky, “The Bureau owes a huge debt of gratitude to Jill for stepping up during this past year of transition. She worked tirelessly taking on two jobs at once, ensuring the successful production of our Annual Visitor’s Guide and MetroFest 2019.” Schindler was honored by the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce in November with the Peter Barbieri “Service Above Self” Award.
