How to handle your Spring cleanup Yard Waste

Getting your yard ready for summer?! 

Reminder that yard waste can be brought to the Beaver St. Recycling Center (Hours: Tuesdays, Noon-3PM; Fridays & Saturdays, 8AM to 3PM; Sundays, 9AM to 1PM)--a recycling center permit is required.

Notice from DPW: Fall Curbside Leaf Pickup will not be available. Here are your options...

Leaf drop off areas will be available the week of November 15th only.

Waste Management is unable to carry out the Fall Curbside Leaf Pickup.

What does this mean?

This means you should not bag and place your yard-waste at the curb. Waste Management will not be retrieving any curbside yard-waste this fall.

What can I do with my leaves?

During the week of November 15th only, residents of Franklin can utilize the 'leaf drop off' areas at the Recycle Center (located at 455 Beaver Street) without purchasing an annual pass. The specific dates and times you can bring your yard waste (without a sticker) to the Recycle Center are as follows:

·  Tuesday November 16th from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

·  Friday November 19th from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

·  Saturday November 20th from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM

·  Sunday November 21st from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

DPW confirms no leaf/yard waste pickup this November 2021 - Alternative to drop off at Beaver St Recycling Center

Important Message:  Waste Management is unable to carry out the Fall Curbside Leaf Pickup

What does this mean?
This means you should not bag and place your yard-waste at the curb. Waste Management will not be retrieving any curbside yard-waste this fall. 

What can I do with my leaves?
During the week of November 15th only, residents of Franklin can utilize the ‘leaf drop off’ areas at the Recycle Center (located at 455 Beaver Street) WITHOUT purchasing an annual pass. The specific dates and times you can bring your yard waste (without a sticker) to the Recycle Center are as follows: 
• Tuesday  - November 16th from 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
• Friday  - November 19th from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
• Saturday  - November 20th from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
• Sunday  - November 21st from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Beaver St. Recycling Center Open Regular Hours - Yard Waste Only

Beaver St. Recycling Center Open Regular Hours 

Now With the Addition of Thursday -> Noon to 3 PM for This Week -- 

Brush and Yard Waste Drop-Off Only

In order to meet the needs of our residents and still follow the Governor's directive, as well as provide the appropriate level of safety to our residents and public works employees, we are going to re-open the Beaver Street Recycling Center with the following guidelines.

• The Recycling Center opens for the drop-off of yard waste and brush only
• No other recycling products will be accepted
• The Recycling Center will be staffed with only one worker just to check that folks have a Recycling Center Sticker and are only dropping off yard waste or brush
• The Employees will practice established personal space guidelines and "Social Distancing" and will not assist residents in any way with the unloading of their vehicles
• Only five vehicles will be allowed in the Recycling Center at one time
• There will be no credit card or check transactions
• If a resident needs a recycling sticker, they will need to contact and arrange to get one from the Public Works Administration Office (508 520-4910) prior to going to the Recycling Center

  • Friday, May 8, 8AM-3PM

Yard Waste Pickup Curbside Week of May 11, 2020


Yard waste is picked up on your normal trash and recycling day during the collection week of May 11, 2020

Yard waste can consist of leaves, brush and small limbs. Leaves must be in open barrels or in compostable paper leaf bags.
  • Brush must be tied with non-plastic twine no larger than 12 inches by 4 feet long
  • No yard waste will be picked up in plastic bags, cardboard boxes or other containers
  • Contaminated yard waste will not be picked up

Recycling Center open this weekend for Yard Waste Only

"DPW News:
Due to the storm this past week, we know many residents have yard waste to dispose of. The Recycling Center will be open THIS* WEEKEND ONLY for yard waste.
Saturday 8 AM - 3 PM and Sunday 9 AM - 1 PM. Only 5 customers at a time to practice and enforce social distancing.

It has the yard waste pick up days as well as the Christmas tree pick up week. Yes, in summer time we'll both have forgotten when the tree pick up will be. Franklin Residents: Fall 2018 Leaf Pickup

Yard waste is picked up on your normal trash and recycling day during collection weeks.

Yard waste can consist of leaves, brush and small limbs. Leaves must be in open barrels or in compostable paper leaf bags. Brush must be tied with non-plastic twine no larger than 12 inches by 4 feet long. 

No yard waste will be picked up in plastic bags, cardboard boxes or other containers. Contaminated yard waste will not be picked up.

Yard waste pick up dates are:

  • Week of November 5, 2018
  • Week of May 13, 2019


Do not put yard waste to the curb earlier than your pickup week to keep it from the weather.

Yard Waste Pickup re-scheduled to 4/27/15

If you subscribed to the news alerts, you should have received a voice message (or phone call) from DPW Director Robert Cantoreggi announcing that the yard waste pickup has been delayed two weeks. 

Instead of the schedule for this occurring the week of 4/13/15, it will now take place beginning the week of 4/27/15.

Franklin News

The Franklin webpage has some items worthy of sharing:


Colored water for residents along Pleasant St
On Monday May 13 and Tuesday May 14 from 7am to 4pm. The DPW will be be preforming water work on the Flintlock Pump Station (off Pleasant St). Customers may experience low pressure and/or dis-colored water. There is no health effect. Run water on outside faucet or faucet without an aerator, i.e. tub until the water color clears. Call DPW with any questions (508) 520-4910.


What happened to the flag pole on the Town Common?
The Flag Pole on the High Street side of the common was removed for safety concerns. 
It will be evaluated to see if it is possible to correct safety concerns and if so re-installed.
