FHS Girls Lacrosse top Bishop Guertin (NH) on Tuesday

Via HockomockSports.com and Twitter, we share the results of the spring sports competition for Franklin High School on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. We also provide the link to the full set of Hockomock League results below.

Girls Lacrosse = Franklin, 8 vs. Bishop Guertin (N.H.), 7 – Final
– Kaitlyn Carney completed her hat trick with five minutes to go to break a tie game and help Franklin score a win over New Hampshire’s top team in Bishop Guertin. The first half finished level at 6-6, and each team scored just once in the first 15 minutes of a low scoring second half. Carney’s goal gave the Panthers the lead, and a yellow card to the visitors allowed Franklin to kill out the clock. Carney also had an assist and was strong on draws (seven controls). Katie Peterson also had three goals for Franklin while Lindsay Atkinson scored twice and Katie Ryan found the back of the net once. Julia Flynn also had some key draws while Peyton Crandall had a standout performance defensively with four caused turnovers.
8-7 win over New Hampshire's finest,  Bishop Guertin! Awesome back and forth battle and great prep for playoffs. We end the regular season 17-3 and will await our playoff seed 💪🏼 #teamfirst #compete #nodaysoff   https://twitter.com/Fhsglax/status/1661165427806937088

HockomockSports.Com names "Player of the Week: Lily Deforge, Franklin Track"

"Franklin junior Lily Deforge has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for May 15 through May 21. Deforge is the 29th player chosen as Player of the Week for the 2022-23 school year and seventh in the spring season.

In miserable conditions this Saturday at the annual Hockomock Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Sam Berns Community Field, Deforge continued her impressive career as one of the league’s top throwers. She took won the title in the discus and finished third in the shot put, helping the Panthers add to their Kelley-Rex crown by winning the team title at the league meet. Franklin finished with 155 points, which was more than 60 points higher than second place Oliver Ames."
