E. Appointments
E. Appointments
1. Council on Aging - Janet Milici

motion to approve, seconded, passed 9-0

2. Treasurer Collector - Kerri Anne Bertone

recognize Jim Dacey for 18 years of service, retiring in November, bond repurchases have said thousands

Search committee members
Tom Mercer, Miriam Goodman, Susan Dewsnap, Susan Gagner, Jamie, Jeff

did get some candidates, selected 4 for interviews, did 3 (one withdrew)
selected Kerri, worked with Jim for the past year to learn the process; undergoing additional training and certifications

Pellegri - had concerns about the advertising in the Beacon
bachelors degree in finance, candidate does not have currently; when changing from elected to appointed, would be to get the best qualified, don't think it has happened here

degree in business being sought at Dean (not Finance)

Dellorco - how long for?
Nutting - permanent, or until they retire or leave

does someone on the committee know that?

Kerri was the most qualified to take the position, degree aside
it is a small universe

Dewsnap - did interview other candidates; one with an associates degree who is a Treasurer elsewhere; another had a BS who also is a Treasurer elsewhere

Mercer - sat through many interviews through out the town, the candidate is far above the others. The others were not prepared, were not aware of our form of government. Asked of what the town's budget was, one candidate did not know. The procedures brought to the office over the past year. She has been training for the past year in the office

Jones - knowing the committee who were making the interview and decision process; I know Kerri. I believe it is in our best interest to have someone who is from the Town and knows what is going on. I do support Kerri in this

Pfeffer - part of the push to go from elected to appointed was the position was important. The job description calls for the minimum of the bachelors degree and she doesn't have it. This is a $100M company and it should be run by a professional.

Padula - We pushed to get someone on the committee, Tom was on the committee

Nutting - the job description is a wish list, when you sit with the members of the committee with the backgrounds they have the due diligence was done

Dacey - this is the perfect transition, she has been training and doing well. I have a BS in engineering

Padula- we put a group together and it may not be perfect, but I trust them.

Bissanti - I hope you didn't take offense to this; the transition working with Jim is good so you have my vote. I'd love to attract people with better degrees but I think they have other options

Dellorco - you are from Franklin and working your way up, you have my support

Kelly - Our job ts to find someone in Franklin when the time comes who is qualified. Miriam was one of our first appointments like this. I also some folks who do not have degrees and are successful. Some of us do not have degrees so mocking is not appropriate. We pushed for having someone on a committee (Town Council) and we got it, so we need to follow the process. Tom came back to us to bring the best candidate back to us. One of us is here, and we should have no issue voting for it. Our current treasurer says it is the right person

motion to approve, seconded, passed 7-2 (Pellegri, Pfeffer both no)
