“The process was a thoughtful but very difficult one”

"Superintendent of Schools Sara Ahern is proposing that the School Committee trim its proposed fiscal 2020 budget by about $2.3 million, achieving that in part by eliminating 13 teachers. 
“This was a very difficult task, given the direct relationship of the School Department’s budget to a student’s classroom experience,” she wrote in a letter to the committee outlining the recommended cuts. 
The superintendent cited a budget forecast from the town as the reason for the need to cut from the School Committee’s budget proposal."
