The All Night Party Committee is looking to share information on how you can help the Class for 2022 party - Mar 31 - 7 PM

Dear Franklin Families,
The Franklin HS All Night Party is a tradition started in 1990 that has provided our graduated seniors a safe and fun event to celebrate their high school experience one last time as classmates. The graduates enjoy a fun-filled night that includes games, prizes, food, DJ, and a hypnotist show. Due to the pandemic, we unfortunately have not been able to hold this event for the past two years, but the All Night Party (ANP) Committee is ready to bring this incredible event back for our upcoming Class of 2022 graduates and future FHS graduating classes.
The All Night Party Committee would like to welcome families of new and returning students to join our team. Whether your son or daughter is an elementary or middle school student, Freshman, Sophomore or Junior the All Night Party committee needs you now. Your involvement contributes to the support of the present senior class and guarantees the continuation of this tradition for your future seniors.
Once again we will be transforming the Horace Mann Middle School into a magical experience. To do this it takes the hard work of numerous volunteers and the support of the school community and business partnerships to make this event a success. The party takes place after the seniors finish their graduation starting at 11pm on June 3rd.
We will be holding a VIRTUAL informational and initial planning meeting for all interested volunteers at 7 PM on MARCH 31, 2022 via Google Meet. Following this informational meeting there will be a volunteer and donation form shared with the community.
This event is one of the great traditions of the Franklin Community. We can’t hold this event without the support of all of our community partners and residents. We hope that you are able to join us at 7 PM, MARCH 31 to hear about how we can make this year special for the 2022 graduates and graduates to come.
Thank you,
Franklin All Night Party Committee

Tri-County RVT High School 42nd Graduation Ceremony - June 6, 2021

Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School officially gave 221 diplomas during the school’s 42nd graduation ceremony on Sunday, June 6th.

Superintendent-Director, Stephen Dockray, was joined on stage by School Committee Chair Brian Mushnick of Norfolk, Principal Michael Procaccini, Vocational Director Cathie Rebelo, Director of Special Education John Martin, Class Valedictorian Vivienne Seested of Franklin, Class Salutatorian Gerard (Ace) Ayotte, III of Seekonk, and. Class President Jennavive Barber of North Attleboro.

“You have made it to today despite a world-wide pandemic happening around you for the past 15 months. You have had to adapt continually over your last two school years here at Tri-County. This is a skill set that will serve you well in future years,” Superintendent-Director Stephen Dockray said. “Class of 2021, you did it! You should be SO proud of yourselves. It may not have been an easy road, but you made it!”

During her inspiring Valedictory speech, Seested spoke about Tri-County’s motto, “Work Hard, Today Counts,” and encouraged her classmates to “Work hard, work smart. Your yesterday, today, and tomorrow count.”

Barber’s Class President speech saluted her graduating classmates by saying, “Among us are electricians who powered light to hospitals, IT experts who fixed students’ Chromebooks during distance learning, and even healthcare workers who took care of COVID patients. We may have not had a normal high school experience, but as a vocational school, we did something bigger; we impacted the world in ways teenagers have never done before. We were unlike any others before us; we were unprecedented.”

Tri-County RVT High School 42nd Graduation Ceremony - June 6, 2021

Several students were awarded local scholarships and tool awards totaling $82,100 available exclusively to Tri-County students during the ceremony. Similar to scholarships, tool awards are given by local businesses, civic organizations, and families to aid students entering the workforce to purchase tools for their trade.

One of the largest scholarships awarded is the Dean College scholarship given annually to one Tri-County graduate. Anna Weidman, an Engineering Career Program graduate from Franklin, has been awarded a $36,000 tuition scholarship to Dean College for the 2021-2022 academic year. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years/eight semesters of attendance at Dean College. This is the twenty-third year that Dean College has awarded a scholarship to a Tri-County Regional student.

This year, Digital Federal Credit Union granted $10,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors.

The Tri-County graduation was held on a stage designed and constructed by the teachers and students of our Carpentry Program. The new stage will be used for years to come, and their hard work is much appreciated.

Many Tri-County graduates will further their education by attending a university or post-secondary education. Others will enter the workforce with the certifications and skills gained throughout their high school career, and five Tri-County graduates plan to enter into the U.S. Military.

Franklin.tv: Congrats to the Grads of 2021

They have persevered through a year like no other.
by Pete Fasciano, Executive Director, Franklin●TV and wfpr●fm

Well, they did it. The Senior Class of 2021 has officially graduated and brought an end to a school year that was anything but normal. The year was all about being patient – adapting to unpredictable events. So too, the ceremonies were very much like the year. Facing the possibility of a rainout, the outdoor field ceremonies were held off by two hours to let the threatening clouds pass. Being patient – adapting to unpredictable events.

As in years past, at the end the students would march out in recession to meet families in the parking lot.  Didn’t happen.  Instead, their families immediately ran to meet them on the field. No more patience. They and their families became the unpredictable event – in the very best sense. Just like that – their year was done.

Thanks to our stalwart TV crew
Thanks to our stalwart TV crew

Thanks to our stalwart TV crew (I don’t get to use the word ‘stalwart’ often)  - Keith Palmieri, Chris Flynn, Scott Tooker, Li Wang, Chris Leverone and Bill Hurley, we adapted and navigated our way through the festivities as an unpredictable event. Clearly, this year’s Franklin Seniors are now well prepared to do the same.

And –  as always –
Thank you for listening to wfpr●fm.
And, thank you for watching

FHS Graduation 2021! It’s an Outdoor Affair

by Pete Fasciano, Executive Director  05/16/2021

We began our preparations for FHS Panther Graduation 2021 several weeks ago. Every year it is our most ‘mission critical’ program, and we take many steps to ensure the event’s success as best we can. Given that it’s live, happens once, and more than 400 graduating students have extended families and friends who are eager to watch either on cable or on our Franklin Pride live stream.

No pressure.

Prior to the pandemic we had our technical setup and production routine down pretty well. Even then, we took nothing for granted. In 2020? Well, we all know what happened. We had to record the graduation proceedings carefully over three days while all graduates were socially (and chronologically) distanced.  Editing over 400 student moments timely into the final program also was a challenge.

Last year gave us a new celebration – The Panther Car Parade. We covered it live on wfpr●fm 102.9, and this year it’s back by popular demand. We plan to carry the parade live on Comcast 96, Verizon 28, video streaming and on the radio as well.

We’ll be everywhere – in your TV set, your computer, your smartphone and your radio. The Panther Car Parade will take place the day after graduation.

Currently, graduation itself will be outdoors, live from Panther Field on Friday evening at 5 PM. Of necessity, it will be a simpler affair. No procession or recession. No live band or chorus. The customary stage will be set on the track in front of the bleachers. The entire field will provide seating for graduates and their families, clustered in pods – socially distanced groups of five.  The give-n-get is that, although the ceremonies are simplified, the grads do get to sit with family.

In the event that the weather doesn’t cooperate, both events will shift by one day.
You can watch all the festivities – live – on our Franklin Pride Channel, Comcast 96 or Verizon 28. You can also listen – live – on wfpr●fm 102.9. We will also repeat both events the following week and post them to our Video-on-Demand service where you may also download as you wish – to have and to hold.
And –  as always –
Thank you for listening to wfpr●fm.
And, thank you for watching.

In the News: "Katie Cashin makes immediate splash at Drew University"

From the Milford Daily News, articles of interest for Franklin:
"On Feb. 16 in Germantown, Md., Katie Cashin stood on a podium. It had become a familiar feeling for Cashin, just as it was for the man who inspired her to start swimming: Olympic legend Michael Phelps.
The former Franklin High standout holds five school records with the Panthers. Now, she is a rising sophomore at Drew University, and she made quite a splash while setting new records in her first year at the Madison, N.J., school.
In her freshman year, Cashin was named the Landmark Conference Women’s Rookie of the Year after a season in which she won four gold medals in addition to a silver and a bronze. She followed in the footsteps of two-time conference Swimmer of the Year Mal Vishwanath, who had claimed the league’s Rookie of the Year three years prior.
“Seeing Katie stand where I stood three years ago just brought a feeling of such pride,” said Vishwanath, who is from Bangalore, India."

Pantherbook: "The Graduation Parade: Reflecting and Looking Forward"

From Pantherbook we share the following:
"Throughout a challenging, confusing ending to their final year of high school, the class of 2020 showcased their resilience in many ways. Their effort to make the most of the year was visible in carefully crafted music videos, an Instagram account dedicated to the graduating class, and a parade and virtual graduation.

This graduation parade, which was put together with the hard work of the class officers and admin, was an amazing success. The Town Common was packed with family, friends, and community members. A fun environment of celebration was created with decorated cars, music from a radio station, and even the shooting of confetti.

When speaking with the graduates in the weeks after the parade, there was an overwhelmingly positive response. While this certainly wasn’t the expected ending to their senior year, many graduates looked on the bright side, and some even said the parade was better than a regular graduation ceremony. Graduate Megan Torrey said, “The parade was honestly one of the best experiences of my life. I’m so grateful for what the Town of Franklin has done for us to make our senior year so special.”
The Franklin community certainly showed up to help these graduates celebrate, and it was well deserved. Whereas tickets are very limited in a regular graduation ceremony, the parade was beneficial because the whole town could come out to cheer on the seniors. It also offered the seniors the chance to see and reconnect with their teachers from elementary, middle, and high school years."
