Colored water for residents along Pleasant St
On Monday May 13 and Tuesday May 14 from 7am to 4pm. The DPW will be be preforming water work on the Flintlock Pump Station (off Pleasant St). Customers may experience low pressure and/or dis-colored water. There is no health effect. Run water on outside faucet or faucet without an aerator, i.e. tub until the water color clears. Call DPW with any questions (508) 520-4910.
What happened to the flag pole on the Town Common?
The Flag Pole on the High Street side of the common was removed for safety concerns.
It will be evaluated to see if it is possible to correct safety concerns and if so re-installed.

Final Curbside Yard Waste Pickup is Week of May 13th
Yard waste will be picked up on your trash day. Yard waste must be in compostable bags or open bins and barrels. Small brush will be collected and must be bundled with organic twine no larger than 2 feet by 4 feet. Branches must be under 4” and less than 4 feet. No — loose yard waste, plastic of any kind, large items or non-yard waste.
The Recycling Center is open Tuesday 12-3, Friday 8-3 and Saturday 8-3. Please see Recycling Center information on DPW website for more information.

Friends of Franklin Library book sale - May 17, 18, 19
Just a reminder that the Friends will once again be holding the spring book sale the weekend of May 17, 18 and 19th.
New this year is a 10% discount to members who show their 2013 membership card on either Friday night or Saturday all day.
New members can join at the door and still get the discount.
Memberships are $15./Individual and $25./Family.
Friday from 4-7 is Members' Night, Saturday is general public from 9-4. On Sunday from 9 to noon anyone can purchase a bag for $5.00 and fill it to the top with great summer reading material. Multiple bags can be purchased.
Library book sale
After the sale on Sunday, we select about 24-25 boxes of books to be donated to the prison in Waltham for the inmates and families.
We will still take food or monetary donations for the Food Pantry. A coupon will be issued for donations worth $1.00 off at the check out table.
We will have a special priced area for rare finds, new copies, and collectibles.
In conjunction with the sale, DPW will host "Touch a Truck" from 10-1 and offer refreshments. In the past, this has included hot dogs, drinks, and popcorn.
It will be a true community event.

Did you know that May is Mental Health Awareness month? It coincides with the time of year when students across the country are busy taking state exams, AP tests and preparing for final exams. Our team is hitting the road, asking people far and wide what educational changes we can all make that best support the mental health of our children.
Earlier this week we visited New Jersey, talking to schools that are collaborating across districts to adopt policies that support thriving students. From limits on homework and APs, to later start times and student-driven curriculum, we're seeing a mindset shift around the way we are raising and educating our children. These conversations prove it.
And today, we're engaging stakeholders in higher education with a screening of "Race to Nowhere" for Harvard University's Health Services. Colleges across the country, including the Ivy Leagues, are seeing the long-term effects of the way students are being pushed and "packaged." We are thrilled to be a part of Harvard's work to spread the "Race to Nowhere" message and to remind students that they are more than just a test score or letter grade on a report card.
You can make a difference too. Take a moment to think about how your school has--or has not--addressed the mental health of students and share your stories and work to foster conversation with us! Take a first step by using "Race to Nowhere" and the Companion Book to begin your community's conversation about student well-being. Learn more about bringing the film to your community or home today by visiting our website or replying to this email.
Then pay it forward by sharing or acquiring the film for a friend, teacher or school administrator and help grow the conversation and movement.
