FHS baseball team gets to final, boys & girls lacrosse teams end playoff runs at Lincoln-Sudbury

Via HockomockSports.com & Boston Globe, we share the results of the FHS spring sports playoff action on Tuesday:

Boys Lacrosse - Division 1 = #7 Franklin, 10 @ #2 Lincoln-Sudbury, 13 – Final

Girls Lacrosse - Division 1 = #6 Franklin, 5 @ #3 Lincoln-Sudbury, 9 – Final

The Boston Globe provides some coverage of these games (subscription may be required)  https://www.bostonglobe.com/2022/06/14/sports/kean-sneath-shoots-lincoln-sudbury-girls-lacrosse-into-division-1-semifinals/

Baseball - Division 1 = #1 Franklin, 4 vs. #4 Shrewsbury, 3 – Final

Josh Perry, Managing Editor of HockomockSports.com, provides the game recap:
"One of the strengths for Franklin all season has been that each game a new player steps up to be the hero. The Panthers haven’t relied on only one or two players to get to this stage, but instead have gotten big plays from throughout the roster.
In Tuesday night’s Div. 1 state semifinal at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on the campus of Holy Cross, it was Ben Jarosz’s turn.

After the Panthers let a 3-1 lead slip in the top of the seventh, Jarosz came to the plate with one out, two runners in scoring position, and the infield drawn in all the way around. He quickly fell behind 0-2 to Shrewsbury reliever Benjamin Griffith, but then he started battling. Jarosz fouled off a series of two-strike pitches, staying alive until he got a mistake. Then he pounced.

Jarosz smacked a ball just out of the reach of the diving first baseman, allowing Jase Lyons to race home with the winning run. The Panthers stormed out of the dugout to chase down Jarosz in shallow right, celebrating a 4-3 win and the chance to face league rival Taunton in Saturday’s championship game."

Boston Harborwalk public art display features pieces previously at the Franklin Sculpture Park

You may not immediately recognize the name Michael Alfano but you might recall at least one of his art work. It was displayed at the Sculpture Park when it opened and is now part of a display along the Boston Harborwalk until December 2023. Plenty of time this summer or next year to get to view them along the harborwalk.

"20 of Michael’s finest outdoor public sculptures will be on view in Charlestown, along the Boston Harborwalk from the U.S.S. Constitution to Menino Park at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. See the map of the exhibit or get a PDF of the map to download. Details about the sculptures will be added soon.

Opening celebration is June 21, 2022 at the Shipyard Park amphitheater, with activities for youngsters from 5:00 to 6:00 pm, followed by remarks and a Continuum Dance Project performance with Cubed. Then we’ll walk along the exhibit – it’s sure to be spectacular with the sunset! For directions, inclement weather alternative, and more, see navyyardgarden.org/events.

The exhibit runs through December 2023 and is free and open to the public.

Generously arranged and sponsored by the Navy Yard Garden and Art association and others."
