FHS girls and boys lacrosse teams posts wins on Tuesday in non-league competition

Via HockomockSports.com and Twitter, we share the results of the spring sports competition for Franklin High School on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. We also provide the link to the full set of Hockomock League results below.

Boys Lacrosse = Franklin, 16 vs. Medfield, 2 – Final
– Franklin jumped out to a four goal lead at the end of the first quarter, extended the advantage to seven by halftime, and never looked back in a runaway victory over Medfield. Jake Davis and Tyler Sachetti each had four goals and two assists to lead Franklin’s potent offensive attack while Jayden Consigli added three goals and one assist, and Eddie O’Brien scored twice and had one helper. Matt Corvi (six saves) and Mike Galvin (four saves) both played well in net while Jacob Alexander (one goal) won 14-of-17 faceoffs.

Girls Lacrosse = Franklin, 15 vs. Bishop Feehan, 2 – Final
– Franklin built a six-goal lead in a blink of an eye and never looked back in a rout of Bishop Feehan. Katie Peterson shined on attack for the hosts, potting a team-high six goals along with a pair of assists and seven draw controls. Jamie Tanner (two assists) and Emily Carney (assist) each had a pair of goals, Norah MacCallum had another strong defensive game with a pair of caused turnovers, and Ella Mahoney made four saves in the win.

Boston Globe: "In Franklin, community and culture matter, and the result is sustained success for the girls’ lacrosse program"

"The day of a rivalry matchup at Franklin High, a hum of electricity flows through town. Youth players scribble on poster boards with crayons, writing messages to their favorite varsity lacrosse players. Parents dig through drawers of endless blue T-shirts, hoodies, and jackets searching for one fit for the occasion.

Franklin girls’ lacrosse players tie bows in their hair as fans — mostly residents of the 26-square-mile town — begin to fill the stands at Pisini Stadium.

“It’s just a really supportive town all around,” Franklin coach Kristin Igoe Guarino said. “Being in a sports town makes it even more fun.”

“I have high expectations, and the girls know that. That culture year in and year out is what keeps us going,” said Kristin Igoe Guarino, Franklin girls' lacrosse coach.MARK STOCKWELL FOR THE BOSTON GLOBE
