In the News: Town Council re-organizes, Y splash park to open in spring

"Two vice-chairman candidates were nominated: Thomas Mercer and Robert Vallee, who had served as the council's chairman for the past term. The board was split on the two candidates, ending in a 4-4 tie. 
Council member Judith Pond Pfeffer motioned to table the vice chairman matter until the full council is seated. Her fellow councilors agreed. 
Town Attorney Mark Cerel said that as the vice-chairman's duty is to preside over meetings in the absence of the chairman, the council must be careful to schedule meetings only on dates when Kelly is available - at least until the vice-chairman matter is settled. 
Pfeffer was unanimously named to continue on as the council's clerk."

"On Oct. 20, the Hockomock Area YMCA announced the construction of the Rockland Trust Family Splash Park at its Bernon Family Branch in Franklin. 
The construction will happen through the end of this year and the park will open in the spring."
