Boys Basketball = Division 1
#16 North Andover, 54 @ #1 Franklin, 62 – Final
By Ryan Lanigan || HockomockSports.com Editor provides the game recap:
"With Franklin clinging to a four-point lead with under two minutes to play, the Panthers got the ball to star senior Caden Sullivan in the post.Sullivan had success earlier in the game in that somewhat unfamiliar territory and had the chance to deliver arguably the biggest bucket of the night. After all, it was Sullivan’s night — the senior guard scored his 1,000th career point earlier in the game in the second quarter and was the leading scorer in the game. When hauled in Zach Allen’s pass, he pivoted towards the paint where North Andover was waiting with a double team. Instead of forcing a shot, he muscled a pass between the two players — a gap just wide enough for the ball — to junior Justice Samuels, who went up and under and converted the layup through contact to the head for two points and a six-point lead with 1:21 to play. ** Girls Basketball = Division 1
#9 Franklin, 55 @ #8 Central Catholic, 65 – Final
– Liz Dumais scored her only basket of the night to beat the buzzer and put the Panthers in front at halftime 32-31, but the Raiders dominated the third quarter, outscoring Franklin 17-6, and it proved to be decisive. The hosts jumped out to a big early lead, but the Panthers rallied as Mallory Santos and Sophia Sacramone each hit threes late in the first to cut the deficit to just six after one. Franklin completed the comeback in the second, outscoring the hosts 18-11. Chloe Fales drilled a pair from deep and scored eight of her team-high 18 points in the quarter. When Dumais beat the buzzer, Franklin headed to the locker room with a one-point lead. Things dried up offensively in the third, and the Raiders took advantage to grab a double-digit lead. Lily Phillips scored eight of her game-high 19 in the third for the Raiders. Franklin stayed within single digits through much of a back-and-forth fourth quarter, but just couldn’t the hosts made enough of their free throws to seal the win. Freshman Tessah Rodrigues finished with a pair of threes and 11 points. Santos added seven and Elle Bonacci and Sacramone each scored six points.
