Baseball = Franklin, 3 vs. Catholic Memorial, 2 – Final
– After being held scoreless for four innings, Franklin scored three runs between the fifth and sixth innings to pull off a 3-2 comeback win in a non-league clash of two top teams in the state. Franklin scored all of their runs in two-out scenarios. In the fifth, Patrick Luizzi got the Panthers on the board with a two-out single to center field to send Henry George across the plate and cut CM’s lead to 2-1, and freshman Ethan Edmunds reached on an error with the bases loaded to score Owen Pennini to tie it 2-2. Joey Goguen broke the sixth inning open with a two-out double to get the Franklin rally going once again. After Jack Sullivan was intentionally walked, Pennini sent a fly ball to left field for the game winning RBI single. For CM, Richie Curran’s (2-for-3) two RBI double was the lone scoring play for the Knights. Cam Lambert and Goguen both had two hits in the win for the Panthers. DJ Silverstein (5IP, 5H, 2ER, 3BB, 7K) and Owen Lewis (W, 2IP, 1H, 0R, 0BB, 2K) combined for nine strikeouts and only allowed six hits.
