Franklin in Focus: Candidate Query - Oct 22

Franklin in Focus, a nonpartisan organization focused on bringing information about town issues and town government to the public, is sponsoring an evening with the candidates running for office in the upcoming November 5 town election. 

The Franklin in Focus Candidate Query will be held October 22, 2019, from 6 PM to 8:30 PM at the Franklin Senior Center. The public is invited but seating is limited, so please reserve. 

Due to time constraints, only candidates in competitive races will attend: Constable, School Committee, and Town Council. 

The program will be recorded and broadcast by FranklinTV.

Franklin in Focus: A short course on running for a Town Election seat

RUN! A short course in what it takes to run for elected town office in Franklin...

Many people think about getting involved in town government but are unsure of the process. With town elections coming this fall, from 10:30 AM to noon on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the studios of Franklin TV, Franklin in Focus will present a 90-minute short course that will discuss the paperwork, the rules, the risks, and the rewards of running for elective office. 

We will be joined by a former school committee member who will describe his experiences and "lessons." We will also discuss the alternative of getting involved with the town's appointed boards. Audience space is limited.

This recording is the first of three segments from the Election Information Event hosted by Franklin in Focus held at the Franklin Public Library on Saturday, October 13, 2018.

This first segment covers the information session with the two candidates for the 10th Norfolk Representative district: incumbent Representative Jeff Roy and challenger current Franklin Town Councilor Patrick Casey.

The intro is provided by Monique Doyle and Alan Earls, founders of Franklin In Focus. The information session allowed each candidate to make an opening statement, answer three questions that were asked of each candidate, and three questions specific to each candidate before providing a closing comment.

Franklin in Focus presents Election 2018: Candidates and Issues - Oct 13

Franklin in Focus is presenting an informative event for Franklin voters on Saturday, October 13 at the Franklin Public Library from 9:15 to 11:30 AM – just prior to the start of the downtown Harvest Festival!

The event includes a primer about registering and voting. Invited speakers will comment on 2018 ballot questions.

* The keynote event at 9:15 will be a moderated debate between Representative Jeff Roy (D), and Patrick Casey (R), both vying for the seat representing Franklin and Medway (10th Norfolk District). Audience members may submit questions for either or both candidates at the start of the morning.

* Town Clerk Theresa Burr will provide a primer on this year's ballot as well as information on registering to vote and absentee ballots.

* Several organizations have been invited to provide speakers to discuss this year's ballot questions.

Where’s the Green? - Mar 17

A look at prospects for open space, agriculture, and recreational space in Franklin and a discussion about the town’s continued growth

On Saturday, March 17 Franklin in Focus is inviting all interested people to gather for a look at the past, present, and future of Franklin’s open space and continued growth with an eye to preserving town character, enhancing recreation and conservation, and encouraging agricultural activities.

We are inviting representatives from the Town Council, Town Conservation Commission and Planning Board, Metacomet Land Trust, Charles River Meadowlands Initiative, Franklin State Forest, and Franklin Bellingham Rail Trail, Agricultural Commission, and Community Garden and other to join us.

The event will be held at the Franklin Senior Center from 10 - noon.
