Cruisin' Bruce Palmer is no stranger to the world of broadcasting, boasting an impressive 

career spanning over 40 years. His dedication and passion for radio earned him a well-deserved induction into the RI Radio Hall of Fame in 2016. Beyond his exceptional broadcasting skills, Cruisin' Bruce is renowned for his love of classic cars, making him a beloved figure in the community. During the warmer months, you can often find him hosting over a hundred car events across Rhode Island and Massachusetts, sharing his enthusiasm with fellow enthusiasts. Dance the night away with sensational performances from local bands and take part in silent auctions and raffles. All proceeds from the event will support the Franklin Food Pantry, which offers supplemental food assistance, household necessities, and resource referral programs to individuals and families throughout the Franklin community.

New England Legends Presents Zombie Prom 2024: A Night of Dancing with the Dead for a Worthy Cause

New England Legends, the creators of the popular New England Legends podcast, are thrilled to announce the return of their much-anticipated Zombie Prom fundraiser on Saturday, February 17th, 2024 at 7pm. The ghoulishly delightful event will take place at the DoubleTree Hotel in Milford, Massachusetts, promising attendees an unforgettable night of dancing, games, raffle prizes, and a pizza party—all in the spirit of raising funds for a charitable cause.

The Franklin Food Pantry is pleased to announce that it has been honored with the 2022 MyFM Quest for the Best Gold Award for Best Place to Volunteer! 

The 2022 MyFM Quest for the Best highlights the very finest organizations that the area has to offer – from burgers and pizza to nonprofits and building contractors. It's an opportunity for owners, employees, customers and fans throughout the community to let their   voices be heard. And the people spoke up in a big way, with over 1,300 nominations received across 250 categories this year.  More than 450,000 votes were cast.   

The Pantry will celebrate the amazing contributions of its award-winning volunteers at the Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on Wednesday, September 28 at 11:30 AM at the Mount   Street Farm in Franklin.  Special attendees will include Representative Jeff Roy and Town Administrator Jamie Hellen.   

The Pantry will bestow its 2021 President's Volunteer Service Award to three volunteers who served over 500 hours, one volunteer who served over 300 hours, and seven volunteers   who served over 100 hours.  This prestigious award was founded in 2003 by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation to honor individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them   to take action, too.  Led by AmeriCorps and managed in partnership with Points of Light, this program allows Certifying Organizations to recognize their most exceptional volunteers. 

Tina Powderly said, "We are so grateful that the community recognized the dedication and passion of The Pantry's volunteers with the Quest for the Best Gold Award!  The Pantry   simply could not serve all of the families that shop with us each week without the hard work and commitment of each one of our 125 volunteers. “I will never take winning this award lightly or for granted.  To win this award once is an amazing accomplishment, but to win it a record 11 times is simply unheard of in the industry.  I can’t say enough about my staff, our listeners, fans and followers, and all the local partners we’ve developed over the years” said Tom McAuliffe, owner of MyFM Media. 

With a commitment to community, and a little light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel, MyFM Media launched their first ever MyFM Quest for the Best Contest.  This initiative was designed to inject some serious positivity back into the community by shining a spotlight on the incredible local businesses who have endured, innovated, and found new and better ways to serve their customers and clients during the toughest economic period in almost 100 years.

Charity Toy Drive Collects Over $25,000 in Toys

Massachusetts Broadcasters Association's 2021 Radio Station of the Year, MyFM 101.3, recently spent the weekend of Friday, November 26th through Sunday, November 28th, braving the elements outside of Walmart in Bellingham, MA collecting an estimated $25,000 worth of toys over a 31-hour period for the local, veterans-operated organization Toys For Kids And Teens.

A COW (Container on Wheels) was generously donated by Gallo Moving in Milford and utilized as storage for the donated toys over the three-day donation event.  The COW was also used to efficiently transport the donations to the Toys For Kids and Teens headquarters in Northbridge at the end of the collection.

While many toys were donated on site from listeners of the station and Walmart shoppers, a large factor in the success of the drive each year is through the generous support from "Shopping Spree Sponsors".

A Shopping Spree Sponsor is an individual/business that donates a minimum of $250.00 in cash to the cause. The cash donation was then spent on toys by an official MyFM Tailgating For Toys volunteer in Walmart. In return for the monetary donation, the shopping was done and a Facebook video was posted with all the toys purchased in their name as a thank you. Videos can be viewed on the station's Facebook page @MyFM1013.

"Those sponsorships make a huge impact.  It really sets the tone for the entire drive.  We're lucky to have so many generous friends," said MyFM Operations manager and event coordinator, Ray Auger.

Toys for Kids and Teens is a 5013c non-profit organization that collects and disperses toys during the holiday season to families in need. Toys for Kids and Teens covers the Blackstone Valley area, further points east.  They can be reached through their website at www.toysforkidsandteens.com.

9th Annual Franklin Turkey Trot - Sponsors sign up now

This year The Franklin Food Pantry is holding its 9th Annual Franklin Turkey Trot 5K as a virtual race. The turkey trot will still officially run on Thanksgiving morning, November 26th, but each runner can run or walk their own personal 5K when it is most convenient for them. Once runners have finished the race, they can post a picture on social media sharing that they completed their run and use the hashtag #turkeytrot2020. All proceeds from this event go directly to the Franklin Food Pantry to provide quality healthy food to hungry families in our local community. Community Comes Together For Another Successful MyFM Stuff-a-Bus

On Saturday November 30th local radio station MyFM 101.3 set up camp outside of Target on Fortune Blvd in Milford and began their 30-hour residency in hopes to fulfill their goal of collecting enough toys to fill a school bus. 

The 3rd Annual MyFM Stuff-a-Bus partnered with Uxbridge-based Toys For Kids and Teens in 2019 to assist local families in need this holiday season. “Last year we collected roughly 5,000 toys and we were hoping to just come close enough to topping that this year,” explains MyFM President Tom McAuliffe. “At the end of a very long 30-hours we were happy to report that, through the generosity of the local community, we blew that away with over 8,000 toys!”

The MyFM staff dedicated their weekend assisting with the drive and even went as far as camping out overnight to watch over the toys. But they weren’t exactly roughing it. Affordable Junk Removal and Resellables provided a comfortable living room to rest in. They were well fed thanks to local restaurants TGIFridays, IHOP and Five Guys. The crew kept warm by dancing to festive holiday music that filled the donation area.

Community Comes Together For Another Successful MyFM Stuff-a-Bus

MyFM Operations Manager Ray Auger brought the annual event to the MyFM after taking part in similar drives years ago on The Cape and in Portsmouth, NH. “I saw the impact it had on those communities and knew that we could really make a different here as well,” says Auger. “It just fit so well with the MyFM model. I knew our friends in the community would just run with it and help make it something special.”

For the past 3 years, Vendetti Bus Company has been generous enough to provide the bus, which is used to store the toys collected throughout the drive. The bus even comes with it’s own mascot, Jingles the Elf, a.k.a. Milford’s favorite, festive bus driver Moe Hutchins.

In addition to the outpouring of assistance from the local community braving the cold to drop of their toys, local businesses and individuals chose to donate $250 or more for shopping spree that sent the MyFM staff into Target to do the shopping for them. The Shopping Sprees were filmed and posted on MyFM’s Facebook page. $6,250 was raised which allowed for purchases of TV’s, bicycles, electronics and other toys for older children. MyFM would like to thank Dinner and Co., Chelsee O’Meara – LuLaRoe, Montgomery Lodge, Milford Tire, The Kearnans, Lioce Properties, KemForKids, Milford Hardwood, Milford TV, Doyle Siding and Window, Ray’s Automotive, Friends of Holliston, Old Time Auto Sales, Masters Touch, Devlin’s Tavern,. Depot St Tavern, Stephanie G Jewelers, Target and an anonymous Hopkinton donator.

At the end of the drive the toys were moved from the bus to a Gallo Moving and Storage truck where they were stored and transported to the Toys For Kids and Teens drop off site.

Town Council approves $692K of free cash for projects

Another source for timely news about Franklin is MyFM 103. Given the total of the $692 was approved, it included the $24K for study and analysis the old South Meeting House. We'll need to wait for the Actions Taken document to be published to confirm.

"The Franklin Town Council unanimously approved a resolution to transfer $692,000 in freecash Wednesday evening, left over money from the town's snow and ice account that will be used for several projects. Most of the free cash $448,000 will be used for roads and infrastructure it’s estimated Franklin has a $40 million backlog of road work. Two appropriations of $100,000 is earmarked for improving public safety radio communications and for the wage settlement account, to pay for some unanticipated contractual obligations."
