"The oldest, continuously operating public library in America is in Franklin, a town that has its own theme song!
“The name of the town on the original paperwork is Exeter. Somewhere between leaving Franklin and arriving at the State House of Massachusetts in Boston, they crossed out the name Exeter and wrote in the name Franklin. So that is how we got our name, and we don’t know who did it,” says Vicki Earls, Head of Reference Services at the Franklin Public Library.
While we don’t know who did it, we do know why – to impress Benjamin Franklin, who had just gained support from France for the American Revolution. But the town expected Franklin to reciprocate.
“Someone got the idea, we don’t know, who of approaching Franklin and telling him the honor that was bestowed upon him, and would he want to contribute something to this newly founded town,” Earls explained. “They requested from Franklin a bell. They were building a new meeting house and a bell was crucially important because that’s how you gathered citizens.”

"Delighted to be a part of the grand re-opening of the Franklin Historical Museum last week. The re-opening brought back to life our local laboratory for history and culture and offered residents a chance to see Franklin over the years since 1778.
It was also a treat to hear James Johnston describe the new federal parlor display and hear Jamie Barrett sing his ode to Davis Thayer (brief video included below). Check out the newly re-opened and expanded museum. Thank you Mary Olsson for making it all happen."

"If you know me, then you know that I'm pretty much music 24-7... sometimes to the dismay of those around... I just can't turn it off... whether I like it or not, I constantly have music swirling around in my head... don't know if that's a good or a bad thing... maybe just a thing... and lately I've really been needing to capture it in one form or another...
If you like what you hear, maybe 'subscribe' to my YouTube channel (I'm trying to reach 1000!), and/or maybe share it by forwarding it to as many folks as humanly possible..."
