Date: It happens Saturday 08-19-2023 at 3 PM. Mark the date!
At Franklin●TV we're having our annual open board of directors meeting.
The event is casual as a neighborhood open house & block party.
We're grillin' up steak tips, burgers, dogs, chicken. We'll have an ice cream sundae bar too. This year we have Franklin's own Jamie Barrett to sing and strum all about "The City Known as the Town of Franklin" and lots of other fun songs. Please join us for great entertainment, food and refreshments - on us.
Rain? We'll just move it all into our studio and Community room. It's a great time to get together with friends and neighbors to celebrate the last days of Summer. We hope you can make it.
Please let us know sooner than later if you will attend and how many.
We do hope you can join us.

CBS Boston did a spot on Franklin recently:
"The oldest, continuously operating public library in America is in Franklin, a town that has its own theme song!
“The name of the town on the original paperwork is Exeter. Somewhere between leaving Franklin and arriving at the State House of Massachusetts in Boston, they crossed out the name Exeter and wrote in the name Franklin. So that is how we got our name, and we don’t know who did it,” says Vicki Earls, Head of Reference Services at the Franklin Public Library.
While we don’t know who did it, we do know why – to impress Benjamin Franklin, who had just gained support from France for the American Revolution. But the town expected Franklin to reciprocate.
“Someone got the idea, we don’t know, who of approaching Franklin and telling him the honor that was bestowed upon him, and would he want to contribute something to this newly founded town,” Earls explained. “They requested from Franklin a bell. They were building a new meeting house and a bell was crucially important because that’s how you gathered citizens.”

State Representative Jeff Roy writes:
"Delighted to be a part of the grand re-opening of the Franklin Historical Museum last week. The re-opening brought back to life our local laboratory for history and culture and offered residents a chance to see Franklin over the years since 1778.
It was also a treat to hear James Johnston describe the new federal parlor display and hear Jamie Barrett sing his ode to Davis Thayer (brief video included below). Check out the newly re-opened and expanded museum. Thank you Mary Olsson for making it all happen."

Jamie Barrett will take the outdoor stage on Thursday, July 9 at 7:00 pm. This concert schedule is contingent upon Reopening Massachusetts Phase 3 beginning on July 6th. The box office for this show will open when the Phase 3 start date is officially announced by Governor Baker.
Jamie resides in Franklin, MA where he has been teaching music at Jefferson Elementary School since 1999. He also teaches one day a week at Davis Thayer Elementary, and he provides private guitar instruction after school, as well. His interest in music began with a very musical family and was then furthered by piano, singing, and clarinet lessons at a young age. He later discovered the guitar and went on to play in school productions and jazz bands and began gigging in night clubs. He went on to play in several bands throughout the New England area.

Just an FYI... THIS TuNesday, May 26th @ 8:00 AM (or ANY time thereafter!!!) I’ll be doing an ALL PATRIOTIC morning show for about 30 minutes or so! Hope to ‘see’ many of you there and hoping you can share with all of your family and friends! I
’ll be singing ALL of the classic Memorial Day songs (and perhaps a few others) in honor of all those who have served and/or still serve but especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in one of the five branches of our country’s military...
I’ll also be honoring those who are serving us now on the front lines during this time...
To watch the show, all you need is this link: https://youtu.be/z40Drnl6GhU
If you LOSE or forget the link, just type in Wake Up With Mr Barrett on YouTube and it’ll probably be at the top of your search...
Again, hope to ‘see’ you there!
Have a great weekend!
