About Daniel

Dan put himself through school working in fine dining establishments in New Haven and during this time he developed a passion for wine.   Although he completed a Master’s Degree in Psychology, his love of wine lured him into an altogether different profession. 

He started his career as a fine wine specialist with a distributor in Connecticut.  Since then, Dan has enjoyed a career working for some of California’s most prestigious wineries, which include Kendall-Jackson Estates, Quintessa, DOAU Vineyards, Stags’ Leap, Beaulieu Vineyards and Beringer.   

Dan's most recent position finds him establishing a market presence for the portfolio of an exciting startup winery called Brassfield Estate.

Dan has been a lifelong resident of New England and currently lives in Newport with his longtime fiancé and life consultant Kathleen and their beloved Bernese Mountain Dog Zeppo.

"Grab your family, your passport (to be provided!), and come learn about how different cultures around the world celebrate Christmas. This event is a self-guided tour (similar to a Story Walk) around a neighborhood in Franklin. 

After learning about how different countries celebrate Christmas, children will have the opportunity to meet Santa himself! Hot chocolate and a treat will be provided after visiting Santa! RSVP on Meetup for the location!

Susana Balbo is a family-run winery, focused on high-end wine production, located in Mendoza, Argentina, at the foothills of the Andes mountain range. It was founded in 1999 by Susana Balbo, Argentina's first female winemaker.

After ten years of sustained growth on international markets, another of Susana’s biggest dream came true when her children, José and Ana, decided to join her team and work side by side with her in order to continue to build up the family legacy. The new family generation and a team of over a hundred people work daily to deliver high-end wines with a methodic care for detail; thus seeking to make the wine industry grow in terms of investigation, innovation and sustainability. In essence, Susana Balbo’s large family share the same spirit and conviction: a great passion for making high quality wines.

Their winemaking team focuses on a work philosophy that combines a deep knowledge of Argentina’s best soils, an endless curiosity and passion for art and science behind winemaking abilities, and a strong commitment to sustainable practices.. Pablo Tome, is the Senior National Export Director of Susana Balbo . He is a native of Argentina living in Stamford Connecticut and is Passionate about all things Argentina. He is especially proud to represent the Iconic winemaking of Susana Balbo in the Untied States. Pablo has an M.B.A. from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and is an avid Rugby and soccer player. Previously he managed Bodegas Salentein, Santa Rita from Chile and Bornos from Spain. He is an active member of the “Wines of Argentina Marketing committee contributing to promoting the excellence of Argentine culture around the globe.

LGBTQ+ Pizza and Board games Meetup to be Held at Horace Mann Square outside Piezoni

The "Non-Scene" Gay Friends of Greater Boston, a meetup.com social group, will be hosting a pizza and board games meetup for the LGBTQ+ community right here in Franklin! The free event will be held at Horace Mann Square outside Piezoni on October 9th, 2021, at noon. Board games will be provided, but attendees can also bring their own. Attendees are also encouraged to support local downtown dining establishments and eat with us outdoors.

The "Non-Scene" Gay Friends of Greater Boston was established in 2010 to provide an alternative to the traditional LGBTQ+ nightlife. "I've found it very difficult to meet other LGBTQ+ people in Franklin, outside of commonly used dating apps" explained meetup organizer and Franklin resident Maxwell Morrongiello. The meetup is now one of the world's largest LGBTQ+ meetup groups with almost 8000 members.

Town Councilor and ally Cobi Frongillo applauded the upcoming event explaining, "only a few years ago, it was commonplace to see Franklin students wait until college to come out because they weren't sure they'd be supported in town. To now be hosting meet-ups for our LGBTQ+ neighbors is a fantastic step forward in supporting all community members."

Attendees are asked to be fully vaccinated and wear masks indoors, with masks being optional outdoors. "During these crazy times, we want to provide opportunities for people to socialize, while also ensuring people can remain safe," explained Morrongiello.

 "I have had wonderful experiences connecting with the LGBTQ+ community in the Boston area through this meetup, had fun doing a wide range of activities together, and not worry about fitting in" expressed longtime meetup member and event attendee Matthew Shibin. "The organizers do a fantastic job and are always open to feedback and suggestions about new activity ideas."

Franklin Newcomers and Friends are back!!!

We're pleased to announce that the Franklin Newcomers and Friends are back!!  We're excited to be able to hold our monthly meetings again.   One change that we've made is that we now meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at "3" Restaurant in Franklin.  We previously met on the 2nd Wednesday . . . "3 at 3" is much easier to remember!

This month, in addition to reconnecting with members and welcoming new friends, we'll be highlighting a few local charities and how to get involved. We'll also share more about Newcomers and the kind of activities and events that we offer.

Come join your Franklin friends and neighbors at our next monthly gathering on Wednesday, September 15th. We meet upstairs at "3" Restaurant at 7:30 PM on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.  We welcome any resident of Franklin, or a surrounding town that doesn't have a Newcomers Club, to join us.   "3" Restaurant is located at 461 West Central Street, Franklin. Complimentary appetizers and beverages are provided and a cash bar is available. We hold our meetings September through May. Additionally, we host many fun and varied events to stay connected throughout the year.   We hope you'll join us!!

Franklin Newcomers & Friends - meeting on the 3rd at 3 this fall

Good news!  Franklin Newcomers & Friends will be returning to in person meetings and events this fall!  We'll be changing it up and meeting the 3rd Wednesday of the month upstairs at 3 Restaurant.  Easy to remember- 3rd at 3!

We're working on planning our monthly meetings and activities for the upcoming year.  We have a couple Concerts on the Common scheduled for 8/6 and 8/20 to have as a casual event before our monthly meetings start.

We may be paused, but we're still here!

Typically we would be announcing our upcoming September Meeting at this time.  But like everyone and everything else, we're social distancing and staying safe.

BUT, that doesn't mean we're not here if you need us!

Our goal remains to enrich the lives of new and long-time residents of Franklin and nearby towns.  Through our monthly meetings, common interest groups and volunteerism we aim to foster a sense of community as well as new and lasting friendships.
