In the News: how to get involved workshop in Milford; Dean dance program expands

"After the September referendum where residents backed a ban on recreational marijuana businesses, Bryan Cole saw an outcry pour over social media: more folks wanted to get involved in local government.

Cole, a Town Meeting member, knew what help he could offer.

“I thought this was a way to sort of turn that frustration into a real change,” he said Monday, while discussing a workshop he’s organized to teach residents how exactly they can join the ranks of Milford and state government.

“It’s important to make sure that Town Meeting and the representative town government actually represents the people of the town.”

"Dean College and DanceAbroad Argentina have announced a unique collaboration that blends intensive language immersion and concentrated studies in dance in the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, beginning in January 2018.

Dean College and the Joan Phelps Palladino School of Dance, known for its Bachelor of Arts and new Bachelor of Fine Arts programs in Dance, is DanceAbroad Argentina’s exclusive collegiate partner. Participating college dance majors from any college or university will earn up to 15 college credits during this collaborative full-semester academic program.

Courses of instruction include Tango technique and its history, as well as ballet, modern dance, jazz, dance composition and Spanish language coursework at either the beginning, intermediate or advanced level."

Respite Resource Fair

We have a great group of local providers, state agencies and small
businesses who look forward to discussing activities for your special needs
child for school vacations, summer vacation, afterschool and weekends.

Some of our participants include: MGH Aspire, DDS, Hockomock YMCA, HMEA's Autism Resource Central, Kennedy Donovan Center, Special Olympics, Unique Steps Dance Academy, Excel Karate, Willow Brook Farm Holliston, Franklin ESY, House of Possibilities, The Bridge Center, Rising Hope Farm, iCan Bike (iCan Shine) - Bellingham co-hosted by Bellingham and Hopedale SEPACs, Drama Kids, JCC Camps,etc.

This event is open to all special-needs students and their families at no cost.

The mission of the Franklin Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is to promote a network for parents of children with disabilities and provide a forum to share information and discuss matters of relative interest and concern regarding our children. This group provides regular forums for Pupil Personnel Services and parents to share information and discuss pertinent issues; develops, maintains and shares tools and a resource guide; and raises awareness of children with special needs.

We host monthly workshops educating parents on special-needs topics. We also hold support groups, fun meet-ups for the kids and donate educational supplies to the Franklin Public School Special Education programs. We are a volunteer-run organization and need donations to help alleviate the costs of the above-mentioned programs. We receive our primary funding through an annual "Evening of Comedy" fundraiser that we host in April.
